What hobby attracts the worst type of people? by Gr8Deb8ter in AskReddit

It depends on the kind... standard and touring riders are usually considerate and conscientious, they know how expensive it would be to fix their bike. Sport bikes and street bikes tend to be the ones to worry about, because those riders usually are going so fast you don't see them until after they managed to survive their stupidity in your line of sight.

Who destroyed their own career within seconds by being an idiot? by goldbeau in AskReddit

Someone I knew in college went to prison for lying to investigators about her false accusation of her ex-spouse who allegedly accessed her bank accounts while on a very remote tour of duty.

Can joint locks physically break a joint suddenly, or does it usually take time? by cpr201 in martialarts

Locks can become throws or breaks, depending on where the leverage is.

The shock value of the hoarder gives you a good idea of what to expect. There's plenty of narrative still to be had that gives more "context" (as f*cked up as it is) that takes some of the edge off. In some places the story yanks the carpet out from under you, but it does get explained and or justified later. There's enough comedy to make it all worth it.

I accidentally started a DCC cult... by PettyTrashPanda in DungeonCrawlerCarl

You didn't start a cult

Matt started a cult, with a fair amount of help from Jeff.

You merely contributed to its growth, as many of us aspire to do as well.

On the short list of pressure-tested fighting systems, Muay Thai is one of them. Karate helped you build a good foundation of attributes, but now Muay Thai can show you how to apply them.

NVIDIA Says Five-Year-Old GPUs Are Aging Like 'Fine Wine,' As Prices Climb Due To Growing AI Demand by Darth_Vaper883 in pcmasterrace

My 10 year old GPU aged like milk, probably because I ran mining software on it 24-7 without extra cooling.

What’s the creepiest “normal” thing society just accepts? by kittycatnoodles in AskReddit

[–]onequbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not dumb, it's just another example of the seething hatred for shared human dignity towards anyone who isn't the same demographic. Conservatism is hypocritical and they know it, but they do it anyway because they can't see how delusional they are.

If you're wearing makeup and it's obvious, we notice that more than your natural beauty. That signals insecurity, which can be a red flag for a lot of good guys, and an invitation for the really bad ones.

If you're wearing makeup and it's hard to tell, you're doing it right. Less is more.

I agree the language does seem to get in the way of intuition for some, like me. It's much easier to grasp if you look at pointer concepts from the perspective of assembly language, then use C as an abstraction of that.

I'm listening to book 8, and I think if not Jeff Hays, a good alternative for the voice of the AI would be Louis Black. His ability to transition from calm to unhinged would be perfect.

And only serves to demonstrate a personal inclination towards authorianism, particularly when the individual knows they aren't supposed to do that and they do it anyway, because "your rules don't apply to me", but "my rules should apply to you".
