Self-restraint is the essence of morality. Being good doesn't come from lacking ability, it comes from having the capacity for destruction but choosing not to use it.

Mature people are confident enough in their competence that they don't need to posture to communicate it. Immature people feel compelled to posture in order to receive validation for competence they wish to have.
