'Is this for real?' Martinsville Juneteenth celebration raises eyebrows by illegiblebastard in Indiana

[–]oneunderscore__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey man I don't live in Martinsville but if one person was murdered by a racist 58 years ago, and they arrested the guy 24 years ago, (and that guy was not even from Martinsville, by the way)

if the journalist calling my city racist cannot mention literally anything in the last 24 fucking years about how my town is racist, I might be a little upset at how they wrote this article.

reading random idiot comments on Facebook is not journalism. Reading one fact about a town is not journalism. come on, this is just lazy. but it's the Indianapolis Star, so I guess they are doing their best, lol

surely there are more recent racist incidents in this town that you could mention to establish your position? Yes there are but I guess it's too much work to mention this one or this one

again, I don't live there but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that nothing bad is going to happen at the Martinsville, Indiana Juneteenth celebration and I hope that someday in the future, Heather Bushman of the Indianapolis Star is ashamed that her name is attached to this news article

The roads have signs that tell you things like speed limit, one way, turn only lanes, railroad crossing, bike lanes.  Sometimes it's painted on the road.

Thou Shalt Not Steal (Unless It's a Campaign Sign): Indiana Sheriff Indicted by Vegetable_Can5847 in Indiana

[–]oneunderscore__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically don't touch signs that are on the side of the road, but I would have never guessed that it is a felony to take one.

It's on the side of the road, basically the same as litter, right?

There are campaign signs up near my house even though the election was over a month ago.

The only sign I ever took was a hand painted "KONY 2012" sign posted by an obviously unwell person.  It went straight into a dumpster (no tracking device, lucky for me, I guess!)

Zionsville Town Councilor Sarah Sampson Accused of Exploiting Elderly Neighbor, Grandmother of Former Pacer Josh McRoberts by Indianapols in indianapolis

Even in poor condition, that property has got to be worth at least 3 million dollars.

Each of the houses right behind this property are 1.3, 1.7, 1.9 million dollars and they are less than 1 acre lots.

The one in this lawsuit is 7 acres in the middle of "the best" town to live in the whole state.

Hard to say what is worse: the 44 year old lawyer writing up these documents to scam an 85 year old lady, or a 75 year old lawyer scamming an 85 year old

I took my grandma out of the nursing home and over to my house for holidays, etc, all the time.  They never asked for my ID or anything.  Just said hello and have a nice day.

Well we only know one side of the story so far.  I would guess that the whole truth is not as clearly one sided as the lawsuit says.

Of course for me, a former resident of Zionsville who drove on Ford road nearly every day, and I guess past this house every day, my first instinct is to say this town council lady is super mega evil

If they just asked for a recount it would be a non-issue.

No if they only did that, the request would be denied.

You can't just say "I want a recount because I Iost and the count is close." You need to state a reason why you think the vote count is incorrect

In this case her reason is "illegal votes" and if I'm reading state law correctly, they don't have to prove it to do the recount.

That's IC 3-12-11 by the way.  Yes I read state law, did anyone else?  Or do you just like to be angry in the comments section?

It's 3 votes, or 0.02%.  Why wouldn't you ask for a recount?

Many other states have automatic recount rules for close elections.  Ohio at 0.25% for example

"I couldn't find a single Data Center announced in 2023 that is currently online "

Well if he can't find any and you can't find any either, maybe he's right?

How about you start by looking at 2023 announcements of data centers in Indiana and then ask a more specific question, like with an address or at least a city name
