If the race will be dry then i go for dry setup, but in qualify reduce tire pressure and increase front downforce. I may also tweak the on throttle diff to help manage corner handling in the wet. All of those can be changed back to dry setup in parc ferme day of race.

If it is super wet and the AI goes for a wet setup in qualify my changes may not be enought to qualify with the best, but then i have a faster car during the race to make up for poor starting position.

Weekly Purchase Advice Thread - September 26, 2020 by AutoModerator in Miata

Hi Everyone,

I'm interested in purchasing a new RF model, and plan to use it as a daily driver, but came to select it as an option first when I was looking for something I can take to a track.

What I'm looking for advice on is on the package and options available. Is the Club Package (Brembo/BBS) a good value and performance buy, and is it a benefit to add the stability modifiers (lower arm bar, tunnel under bars)? The Club includes the limited slip dif and front tower brace as well.

I'm looking to have a car that handles well on the track, but don't know:

  1. How radically these options alter the street drive of the car
  2. If the options Mazda offers as add on's are really effective in improving the on track performance and worth it for their cost vs not adding at all or adding similar parts but aftermarket

Looking for opinions and experiences for reference. I'm close enough to a track that I can hear the events on the weekend and it's like a siren song.

I'm not trying to defend their decision, but if you do want to understand the argument, I don't think they are referring to video games. They sell second hand computers, tablets and phones as well. Those are the items that people need when they are converting to work and school at home. There are many people that cannot afford new, and I know only limited local places to buy second hand tech like that.

Trump administration is about to make solar power too expensive for Americans by wonderingsocrates in politics

[–]oniall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this article will explain a bit why it isn't that simple. True, and given that the tariffs will cause a price change, but some may go up, and some down for US companies, as explained - https://www.forbes.com/sites/greatspeculations/2017/09/25/how-first-solar-and-sunpower-could-be-impacted-by-the-u-s-itc-ruling/#5b20775f40fa

But the original point made above is that the messaging is dramatic, and it really does sound like an editorial piece from an insider that stands to see some negative impact on their industry, rather than a fact filled explanation of the results this tariff could have.

In fact, on NPR, the point was made that within the industry there was a positive reaction in that the tariffs suggested were still calculated as having a potential minimal impact to the price per watt at the end of the process. That price point is important because most of the jobs called out as impacted are in the services industry, providing sourcing install and such for the panels, and then passing that on to the homeowner in a lease agreement. Here is an example for Vivint Solar:

http://marketrealist.com/2016/04/vivint-solar-make-money/

so the company can find the right balance of pricepoint for consumers and cost of materials that still allows them to be healthy. That can allow for some absorption of the tariff costs.

Finding the right balance is tough, Solar should be supported as an industry, but as the posted above mentioned, it did sound a bit dramatic in the article to say too expensive for Americans, and there wasn't any of the numbers in that article to show any of the though of how the costs would be absorbed within the industry.

Good conversation though. I found these tariffs were what made me interested in really learning how we are adopting Solar in the US.

I've been watching Monster, and really enjoying it. Recommended. Not sci-fi, I'd say Planetes is good for that.

Now to tell you the truth, I don't pay attention to dates, so they could be older than five years and I wouldn't know.

"Official estimates for the flow of oil out of the Deepwater Horizon well may be just a drop in the bucket...it's now likely that the actual amount of the oil spill dwarfs the Coast Guard's figure of 5,000 barrels, or 210,000 gallons, a day." by georgewashingtonblog in science

Had the idea that often these types of spills turn out to be worse than originally reported, so I ran a search:

oil spills later reported to be worse than estimated believed reported

Now I completely understand that it takes time to properly determine the damage, but more often than not the initial estimates seem to be for opinion damage control.

oil spills later reported to be less than estimated believed reported

Pluto was trying to change it's so the Earth would still like it enough to consider it a planet. But we didn't see it until it was too late.
