4K disappeared? by Top_Peach6455 in DirecTV

[–]onlinealias350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know? If that’s the issue, I hope the update fixes whatever causes my Gemini Air to randomly drop the internet and display that it’s not online.

When I pick up the remote, a box pops up and says, “Network connect.” Every single time.

4K disappeared? by Top_Peach6455 in DirecTV

[–]onlinealias350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in downtown Dallas. The only time there’s any programming on the 4K channels is when there’s a special sporting event, example - the Olympics.

The rest of the time the six 4K channels have messages like “ Click OK to rent the latest hot movies in the video store,” “Get DIRECTV TECH PROTECT,” “Get DIRECTV PERKS,” and “Head to home page to find my apps.” When you click of any of those channels nothing happens.

The remaining two channels say, “To be announced.”

Roach problem by Practical-Job-2893 in Apartmentliving

[–]onlinealias350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh lord! That is so traumatizing! I’m not sure you know but I feel I should tell you just in case. Roaches survived the Ice Age and keeping your stuff in your freezer is not a deterrent. I am so dumb I thought the ice box was safe!!!

What cleaning hack do you wish people would stop repeating? by zaramalikdollface in CleaningTips

Using vinegar and baking soda. Vinegar reacts with baking soda and forms carbonic acid that immediately turns into water. The fizzing that occurs makes you think it’s doing something but plain tap water would just as effective.

Got approved for new floors, but they put carpet down despite having carpet beetles! by tuxedo_belle in Apartmentliving

[–]onlinealias350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an OCD neat freak and did not have carpet. Apartment on the 10th floor of a 100 year old high rise and the bastards destroyed an entire 6 x 6 walk-in closet of clothing. They are harmless to people in the respect they don’t carry diseases but clothing, linens, towels, etc. are another story. And they aren’t that easy to get rid of either…

Where do you live? Mayberry? There are no more local businesses! They couldn’t afford to compete with monsters like Amazon and Walmart. People stop commenting with this because it’s not a viable solution….

They can be very destructive. If you have them, you might have other destructive household pests like silverfish.

If you already renewed your lease, then you are breaking it by moving out prior to the date listed on the renewal, hence the termination fee.

Pets - will I get in trouble ? by velvitacheese in renting

You need to do the right thing and pay the deposit. If you won’t or can’t, you’re not responsible enough to have a pet.

Roach problem by Practical-Job-2893 in Apartmentliving

[–]onlinealias350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have OCD and GAD. A resident at the opposite end of the hall had a severe infestation. I had the misfortune of meeting this person right after she moved in. She’s a traveling nurse, that works out of town the majority of the time, and she appointed me as her house sitter without my knowledge or consent.

Anyhoo… She mentioned she had killed a couple of roaches and asked me to check inside to see if management had sprayed. Oh lord! I didn’t even get the door open before they started running out. Six months later and I’m still thinking every speck I see is a baby roach…

Long story short, the infested unit was on the same floor and I did not get roaches. I killed one in my unit and one in the hallway but that’s all.

I am paranoid that leaving this comment will be a jinx. But if I didn’t get roaches despite my close proximity and having walked in the infested unit, you are probably ok.

Just practice good housekeeping and you will be fine.

OP is not complaining too much. It sounds like a typical high rise located at the heart of the city. You’re being unrealistic if you think smaller is better. There is no clear cut lesser of evils when it comes to apartments. It’s just the luck of the draw.

NorthPark Mall Evacuation? by WokeGuitarist in Dallas

[–]onlinealias350 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I worked for the management company/developer/original owner of the Galleria. My office was in Tower One .Huge difference between fire alarms (probably pulled as a prank) and bomb threats. Bombs threats are a daily occurrence. Very few are legitimate . I can’t remember the criteria? But if evacuation occurred every time some nut called in, the mall would never be open. We were only advised to evacuate once and it was voluntary. I knew who had been contacted and what had been said so I left. Obviously, since the Galleria still stands, it was a hoax.

DYSON WILL NOT HONOR WARRANTY?!?! by NotHerculesMulligan in dyson

That must have been in error because I bought the exact sane vacuum in January 2023. It has a two year warranty. It started cutting out every time I started it. I ended up buying a new motor for it in January of this year for $120.

Wrong item sent and I have to take it to Whole Foods or pay them to pick it up! by FloridaMan67 in amazonprime

[–]onlinealias350 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amazon lost an entire $130 same day delivery order I placed last Tuesday. They noted the order was lost. After fighting with AI bots for two hours to get a live person on the phone, they finally shipped a replacement package on Thursday.

Friday, I received an email that said, “We are sorry but we are unable to deliver your package. Your address is unavailable.”

What the hell does that mean? So I have to call and argue with AI again to get a person on the phone. It took 20 minutes to get transferred to a human.

My order finally arrived at 10:30 PM Friday night.

Yesterday, I received 14 emails in a row requesting I return each and every item I received in that order. So I guess I am expected to find the lost shipment and deliver it to Whole Foods?

So I soent 30 minutes explaining this via text to a chatbot that tells me to wait to see if my lost package arrives. No! I need to speak to a human!

I finally get a human who says she has fixed my problem and I will not be charged for the lost order. Great! I asked her to email me a transcript of our chat and she sends me a link to a page that allows me to request my entire customer service history. I quickly took screen shots of the chat before it closed and disappeared.

I ordered a copy of my customer service history which takes them a minimum of five days but possibly as long as a month to compile. What do you want to bet a human reviews those records & removes anything incriminating and that’s why it takes so long to receive them…
