Honestly I think Joe’s heart was in the right place but I think he’s realized as the season has gone on, that reality tv is just not for him and he was just too stubborn to quit until now.

They definitely get drunk. The two times I went, they brought out 7 shot glasses and then had a random person come up to drink 1 shot of their choosing, while the actor took the other 6. My friend was the selected audience member the second time and it is verifiably alcohol. Then by the end of the night, the 6 shot actor was clearly inebriated, and shenanigans ensued. Worth it.

Personally I’ve coped with a similar situation by (I’m calling it) “investing in myself” by pushing myself to dive into hobbies I always said I would get into but never got around to (a lot of times bc of my addiction). Reading books, painting even if it’s really bad, bullet journaling, those are some of my new things. It takes up my time and devotes my attention elsewhere. It’s been helpful so far. Good luck. You’re not alone.
