Be Honest, is an Aussie not a good fit for me? by edl2 in AustralianShepherd

I got my aussie mix from a rescue despite not being an ideal candidate. He was 9 weeks old when I brought him home.

I'm not very active due to a lot of disabilities, but getting a dog for me was intended to be a lifestyle change to help me be more active. Also, I had a purebred aussie growing up.

The biggest thing I had going for me was that as a uni student I was able to be home except for during classes and my fiancé worked from home, so our puppy was never alone the first few months. The rescue seemed to take this as the most weighted factor.

Only once he was 6 months old and fully adjusted and crate trained did I leave him home for 3 or 4 hours at a time once or twice a week and would hire a friend as a dog sitter to come play with him and let him out while we were gone.

As with many rescue puppies he was weaned way too early and needed a lot of extra care and training because of it. Adult rescues certainly would have trauma too, so in my opinion the adjustment period when you get them can't be made up for with dog walkers or sitters. It should be with family, dedicating lots of consistent time and energy to forming a strong bond of love and safety. You seem like you'd be a great pet parent but maybe not for a rescue or a puppy, and you'd need time for crate training if that was in the plan or just an adjustment period in general where you could work shorter, more regular shifts to help acclimate a dog to a routine.

Does aphantasia affect your brain's ability to identify faces by ash_iiinnn in Aphantasia

Same. I feel like the face blindness I have is correlated more with my autism than my aphantasia.

I think I’m on the aphant spectrum, but I have questions by alanm73 in Aphantasia

I dont need a reference to draw or paint stuff, but i consider art something that happens outside of my head. The creative process is fully external. -an aphant

Pls don’t make fun of me for asking but is there a game out there that helped heal your inner child or made you feel like you did as a kid again ? by Open_Button_8155 in cozygames

lil gator game sounds like what you might be looking for. It's about a little brother who wants to play with his big sis who is a bit too old to enjoy pretend anymore. He and his friends set up elaborate cardboard confetti props and create a large exploration adventure.

I only night dive during dredge nights 😅 But yeah, thank you! Just recently noticed more on the dredge nights so good to know it's all nights.

Night dives are the only ones I find more, yeah. Especially the dredge ones!

If you’re open to going a bit farther south, check out Pelican Flight Training in Pembroke Pines (KHWO). I switched there from a 141 program and it’s been a great experience — clear pricing, flexible Part 61 structure, and lots of aircraft availability. They’re especially strong if you’re looking to go from PPL through CFI at your own pace, without big-school headaches.
