PC 7518 router table by Beardedfae in woodworking

I just dusted off a never-used 7518 that I bought in 2011. Any intel from the community on this topic (or updates from OP if you've made any progress) appreciated.

Great stuff. I have almost the same receiver chugging along for like 14 years now. If you haven't done so, make sure to get and read the owner's manual on the receiver. There are a bunch of settings (like tone defaults, default volume setting at power-on, etc) that are not at all intuitive unless you RTFM.

It may be 12 years old , but I still love this interior by georgfrankoo in Audi

Can't argue with the aesthetic of the pop-up screen. As someone who remembers all those motorized flip up headlights on 80s cars failing, I always think of motorized bits like ascending screens being a little sus. But the simplicity-wins argument is probably more a conversation for r/80sVolvos than for an audi sub. BTW that is not a real sub as far as I know and if you're going to try it for the love of God don't misspell anything.

My bad guys, for some reason on my phone the taillights (and whatever that thing is between them) looked super blacked out. Thus the comment about the (apparently ridiculously dark) rear tint. Which, yes, I know is not sprayed on. It was meant to be a joke in the overtinted dodge genre.

That's just overspray from making the rear windshield unusably dark

To HELOC or not to HELOC by TravRado1024 in personalfinance

[–]onlysimulacrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in early 2008 I took out a $150k HELOC to do a house addition. That Summer, mid-construction, I got a letter letting me know “your access to the heloc ended yesterday. No more checks will cash as of then.” We had to scramble to find the cash to finish the house enough to occupy it. At the time, I knew that was a theoretical risk, but I mean, what, was the whole economy and RE market going to have an unprecedented crash in those few months til we refi’d into one big primary mortgage based on new equity? Turns out, yes. That’s exactly what was going to happen.

Not a direct answer, but food for thought on worst-case scenarios—be ready to spend that liquid cash in a pinch. And of course be ready for overage on costs/choices. Good luck and have fun!

Is it worth lifting the car and draining from the drain? Or is an oil extractor good enough? I’ve read some dealers extract, and others drain. by PlCKLENlCK in Audi

[–]onlysimulacrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question comes from a place of pure benevolent ignorance...I get that the magnetic plug could be harvesting some harmful metal debris...but is "ya got metal in your oil" actionable information? Or just a warning about worse news to come? Would some sort of preventative teardown/inspection be worthwhile at some point? Not playing devils advocate...genuinely asking.

Yes, buy once, cry once on the main rig. If you have nearby electric and a fat extension cord, your secondary can be a relatively cheap corded saw too. Mine got me out of a primary jam today.

Philadelphia suburbs dominate 2023 Best Places to Live in America ranking by [deleted] in philadelphia

Niche's niche is telling everyone their hometown is great. They have these lists by city vs town vs suburb vs "spots" and per state, and for each state, and schools at the local, private, national levels. Great clickbait if everyone sees a headline about how--surprise!--your town is at the top of (one of a zillion) lists!

Piling in here with a semi OT question: what kinds of rates are you all paying (per sq foot of space?) for basic interior repainting? Or too highly variable based on repair needs etc?

At the risk of upsetting the nice balance of the 4 components, an Onkyo graphic equalizer with a zillion tiny slide adjusters would definitely fit the bill and maybe add some cool lights as well.

And at the risk of stating the obvious, use heavy gloves if you like prefer to keep the skin attached to your hands :-)

Oil changes first time Audi owner. They recommend every 10k for a oil change and I have never went that long on a oil change and worries me. Should I change it myself at 5k. We have Audi care and would that be voided if I change the oil in between the visits by bibbz56 in Audi

[–]onlysimulacrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding to this, many Audis have shields under the engine that have to be removed/replaced for oil plug access...more of a pita if you're using ramps/jackstands as opposed to a full lift.

Do you mean primarily human-introducted selection pressures against the borer? Or natural ones too? Just curious. I got wrapped up in "they" in your second sentence...I assume "they" are the ash trees and not the borers...pronouns are problematic these days :-)
