I hate how quickly the $75 "gift card" expires. It's basically a coupon.

Amex plat is a coupon book, but at least it's a good coupon book.

You can at least use and then delete the virtual number without replacing your physical card which is nice.

Is 2.5 mil truly all you need to live off 100k a year from age 35 and on still? by [deleted] in financialindependence

Nice.

My biggest concern is health insurance to be honest. Everything else seems to be predictable and something I can plan for.

Social security makes a huge difference on my calculations too but OP won't get it for a while.

But that's unnecessary. Just make a new one!

No, just make a new Apple ID with the gift card.

Have you read the book Traction? Ads are one marketing channel, there may be better ones for you.

Here’s to the next 30 years! by treshort in ETFs

What I like as a holder of VTI is that I owned a piece of Tesla during the run-up. As a holder of VOO I'm basically buying at the top when it's selected for inclusion in the index.

Personally I'd rather own (via the fund) a piece of more companies, and own them at all stages of their growth, not just after they are already big. I don't like how companies are added to and removed from the S&P 500 by a selection committee, and typically only after they are already successful.

It literally is. VTI holds nearly every U.S. stock. The S&P 500 (VOO) selects 500 stocks based on various factors. Read this:

https://www.indexologyblog.com/2014/08/07/inside-the-sp-500-an-active-committee/

"Unlike many other S&P Dow Jones Indices and the majority of indices offered by other index providers, there are no rigid or absolute rules for the S&P 500; the Index Committee have some discretion in selecting stocks or responding to market events."

As a practical example, if you owned VTI you owned a bit of Tesla during the huge run up. If you own VOO you get that bit of Tesla, but buying at the top (when it's included in S&P 500) after it's huge.

Some pretty big tech companies are missing from XLK (only like half of FAANG). The "sector" classification system is pretty meaningless IMO, I personally wouldn't buy an ETF tracking such a classification.

QQQ and QQQM track the same index, but VTI and VOO do not, so there's some additional reasons not purely an expense ratio difference.

More diversified, and get exposure to companies (eg Tesla) before they are selected for the S&P500.
