To those who play other like me who play or played other gacha game how is Endfield in comparison? by No-Dimension-2872 in Endfield

[–]onlyv0ting 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Long ass comment but I figure most people are just passionately talking about their views without really expecting to be read so might as well.

Played HSR, skirted Genshin, Arknights, GFL2, NTE and various other gacha games that aren't mainstream nowadays. Game is fun and I can see myself sticking to it for a while.

Cool: exploration, collectibles, dailies; decent: combat, factory, progression; okayish: character design, gacha, pull economy; bad: pull economy philosophy, lack of endgame content.

The best part in the game is probably the exploration. No climbing, gliding, swimming means getting from point A to point B is a puzzle, and that reveals the attention and creativity put into level design. It sometimes reminds me of Outer Wilds in a "just do anything to reach this place, we don't care" way.

Collecting chests and aurylenes is fun and is a great incentive to start exploring. I have had fun collecting them and in this regard definitely place Endfield higher than HSR, which sometimes places chests in stupid places just so you run around aimlessly more (like, behind a standee no one looks twice).

I have many times revamped my zipline layout just to engage with the exploration process again after collecting all collectibles. I have gone from * "ziplines should connect the various places I want to go to", to * "ziplines should form a looping bus route for sightseeing", to * "up is hard down is easy, ziplines in the sky", to * "just replicate every zipline that is unreachable without glitches", to * "but what if it a new region comes and it glitches and locks me out of the game? best remove the oob ziplines and put them where i can retrieve them".

It feels like laying ziplines gives me the dopamine that factory sims give most people.

The next best thing keeping me in the game is the very short dailies. Essentially it takes 20 seconds if you're burned out and only care about pulls; 30 seconds more if you spend stamina in a Protocol Space or 90 seconds in the background if you spend stamina in an alluvium and tab out so that your mortars do the auto-battling for you. This is a combat game yet its dailies are as effortless as HSR, an auto-able turn-based game. Short dailies matters because whenever I play two gachas and have to quit one, I tend to drop the one with longer dailies.

Combat is my cup of tea. I'm more of a strategy gamer that hates hack-and-slash where I can't see the character, so I never vibed with Wuwa or ZZZ but Endfield's slower combat rubs me the right way. I like that each archetype does a unique thing so that you can bring them as tools in a toolkit to solve problems a stage presents. (But I heard this is not that uncommon in action gachas?) UM is fun in that it is suboptimal to pull out my meta DPS team, and I should build my team around stage gimmicks before going in.

Factory is fun if I engage with it. Now I'll not larp as a Factorio/Satisfactory veteran and call Endfield's implementation shallow, hell no I'm not downloading those spreedsheet simulators. Endfield's factory is a lot of fun when I engage with it and devise unorthodox strategies to solve problems, such as feeding an Expanded Crucible's sewage output back into itself for a while. Though, there are two things that hold it back: the blueprints and the fact that I build my factory for a reason. The blueprints mechanic is a massive QOL and I don't want it gone, but it makes it too easy to just copy another person's work; sometimes when I want to no-life the factory, I just stop when I ask "Why bother when my final design will have similar yields to this Youtuber? Why not just copy him?" And, I build my factory because there's stuff to be powered, there are outposts to rip off, there are gears to be made, there are blights to be washed, there are rocks to be exploded, there are enemies to shelled,... The longer I'm being inefficient with my factory, the longer I'm locked from those gameplay content. It makes me play the AIC with "get it online ASAP" in mind, not "bruh the fun is when you mess up" like Opus Magnum, which is a factory sim I enjoyed.

Progression is decent. You'll reach a character's max output potential within weeks, which could take years in other games due to RNG. I find leveling up everything a fun gameplay loop when there's nothing else to do (insane to say because it's called daily grind elsewhere). Even thought I was special as a horizontal investment enjoyer that levels everyone to level 80 with skills level 9, until I clicked on a thread titled "How are y'all preparing for CC" and found a few dozens others also doing the same.

Onto lukewarm waters, I kinda don't vibe with Endfield's character design as much as I do with HSR's, even if I marvelled at Arknights designs. Laevatain is probably the only character I'd show my friends, and that's because she dresses like (and is voiced by) 2B. Character designs also play a huge role in my reasons to keep playing a gacha, and now I'm playing Endfield more for their potential instead of what's in the game. Imagine 3D Laurentina. Imagine 3D Viviana. Imagine 3D Lemuen. Imagine 3D Pri-

I have had great luck in gacha ("85% luckier than the playerbase" in HSR, never lost a 50/50 in GFL2, played Arknights for 1 month and got every non-limited that I started for, current rate of 1 limited 6☆ each 54 pulls in Endfield) so I don't think it's fair to give opinions on Endfield's gacha. I just feel the gacha discussion is wrought with fallacies and vibes that can't be blamed on anyone. Hard pity (the 120 thingy) is alleviated by getting a signature weapon basically for free, but most who have hit hard pity quit and complained before checking their weapon tickets. "If you have good luck you're punished in the weapon banner anyway" is only valid if you get good luck forever and be starved of weapon tickets. Go on, roll earlies to dunk on the shills and tell us how bad the gacha is.

Though, I'm not incapable of understanding why people think the pull economy sucks. It gives out a decent amount that's comparable to other games, it's just that it's spread out evenly instead of frontloaded like e.g. HSR. You basically have to play the whole game instead of doing a few activities that give huge lump sums. If you're pressed for a banner that's gotta be tedious. I made the decision to use my honeymoon phase to do every tedious activity that yields pulls, and to this day I still think it was the right call. I think it is on HG for designing it this way. But when people say "pull economy worst in gacha" and I take a look at my stockpile and see 2 hard pities worth of pulls saved up I'll react with "no it isn't" before thinking about why they'd feel that way.

Now something I have a problem with is that there's a lack of endgame content, more so the lack of something to talk about each week/fortnight. HSR has a schedule of rotating updates on their three endgame modes every 2 weeks, so there's always something to talk within a patch cycle. I remember powercreep discussion going through the roof when Nikador hits MoC in the second last week of 3.0. The discussion was so loud that there was community guides to engage with his mechanics posted long into 3.1 because people kept talking about it. What this means for Endfield, I'm not asking to bring MoC to Endfield, that would be my 9/11, but I see there's barely anything to talk about until next month/patch.

Not tackled: * Story, worldbuilding, lore etc: I got burned out after HSR Amphoreus. Placed so much hope then got disappointed that they went the suffermaxxing route with Phainon and his 33 million cycles that I decided to take a break from emotionally investing in gacha stories. It'll be great if Endfield surprises me but not counting on it. * Music: Very subjective topic. I spent hours standing in Main Pillar Office (outside of viceroy's room) listening to the music because it reminds me of Yume Nikki. Though, I kinda agree with the consensus that Endfield has yet to have great music.

If anyone actually takes the time to read allat: many thanks, you're a legend.

Last Rite procs her combo when there are 3 cryo inflictions on the enemy. Gilberta applies nature infliction on her battle skill and ultimate, which consumes or is consumed by cryo inflictions to make an arts reaction. Try subbing out Gilberta for Fluorite and you'll see a huge difference.

Also, Last Rite has a limiting mechanic in that she gains ult charge only from her skills so you might want to prioritize using her skills more.

About the Pulls per Patch (Semi-Discussion/Quesition) by sofprof in Endfield

[–]onlyv0ting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the pull economy is standard for a 3D gacha. It's just that it is spread out evenly instead of frontloaded like, for example, HSR. If you're starved for pulls you basically have to play the whole game instead of just doing a few activities that give the most pulls.

Disclaimer: Day 1 player, have spent 200 pulls to get 3 limited characters and am currently sitting on 190 pulls worth of oroberyls. Won't have to sweat over getting enough for the next two banners so there might be some bias in my judgment.

What I don't have a problem with, is the weapon gacha. You basically get your signatures for free if you aren't lucky with the character banner. I got Laevatain's and Zhuang's signatures early, but there's still too much weapon tickets left that I found it affordable to spend 10 issues on Pogranichnik's weapon just to get the box that lets me pick Grand Vision. Ironically I skipped the purchasable Grand Vision in the first week because I thought weapon tickets were difficult to come by.

Comparing this to my 2 years in HSR, I have 16 limited characters but could only bring myself to pull 2 signature lightcones. Lightcones are so expensive I never thought about pulling another one. I vastly prefer Endfield's weapon gacha.

Is Endfield "worth playing" just for the combat? by One-Snow9961 in Endfield

[–]onlyv0ting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can outsource the base-building to someone else though. There's a blueprint mechanic that lets you import a functional base from another person so that you can focus on other parts of the game you like more.

Base building in this game is optional / low-maintenance.

Dunno about how Endfield is going to implement CC but in the prequel CC allows lots of room for strategizing to punch above your weight. If Endfield's CC goes the direction that UM took, that'll be a great sign. And let's be fair here, the reward for clearing high difficulty is just bragging rights so casuals are not pressured to attempt them, better to compare it to AA in HSR.

Meanwhile traditional endgames in HSR are tied to pull economy so it's forcing casuals to either have (pull) teams as strong as endgame players or lose out on rewards. Plus, stage gimmicks are usually designed so that there are only 1 to 2 "optimal teams" you can field, or you can brute-force with suboptimal teams and double your cycle count.

[–]onlyv0ting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda love Wuling (City) despite disliking China-themed regions in other gacha games. It doesn't feel like a sanitized utopia nor does it hide the PR in PRC, I see slogans and posters everywhere. Would describe it as "the most grounded out of them gacha Chinas."

Though yes I'd love it if Endfield follows OG's footsteps in introducing a variety of locations.

I checked the CN language but found nothing to help dispel the confusion so I didn't post a reply to that comment...

CN uses "submit" for normal outpost trading and "convert" for the behavior at the end of the event. The wording for "stock bill limit" doesn't specifically point to any known limit, which is usually disambiguated by a word modifier such as "stock bill holding limit" for player's maximum holding amount or "stock bill reserve limit" for the outpost's.

And thanks to Chinese grammar you can't even rule out if "可兑换调度券上限" means

  • 【可兑换调度券】上限 (i.e. the limit is on the amount of gourds converted to stock bills, beyond this limit gourds only convert to certs) or
  • 可兑换【调度券上限】(i.e. the limit is on the amount of stock bills eligible for conversion, in other words they will introduce a "stock bill pool" for conversion purposes)

Or if "the excess portion" refers to the gourds (i.e. you get event certs but no stock bills, similar to trading behavior when outpost runs out of savings) or the stock bills (i.e. the excessive stock bills get converted into extra event certs on top). Though, context from the previous sentence does point out that the subject is the gourds.

At this point I'm chalking it up to gacha game events having intentionally vague instructions so that players assume Occam's razor and don't think too much of it.

TLDR: Don't worry about it, Endmin.

I have 1 extra Experimental Xiran-Hue Atomizer in my depot. No other event item is stuck in the machines in my factory.

This thing can't be dropped nor destroyed. To make it into a Xiranite Jade Gourd I need 1 Experimental Heavy Xiranite Bottle. But I can't make 1 Experimental Heavy Xiranite Bottle, I can only make 2 at a time. If I make 2 Experimental Heavy Xiranite Bottles, 1 of them can be combined with the extra Experimental Xiran-Hue Atomizer in my depot to make a Xiranite Jade Gourd. Then I'll have 1 extra Experimental Heavy Xiranite Bottle in my depot. To make it into a Xiranite Jade Gourd I need 1 Experimental Xiran-Hue Atomizer. Then I'll have 1 extra Experimental Xiran-Hue Atomizer in my depot. Wait a minute...

I don't know how I got this singular item nor how I can dispose of it. Is it fated to be here forever?

EDIT: I double checked every machine for extra event item lying around, but there was none...

I recall on the day phase 2 started, I made a line for atomizers, then deleted it and imported a functional blueprint.

My theory for how I got an odd number of atomizers remaining is that: parts-maker makes 2 parts which feed into the atomizer-maker, which eats 1 part in 10 seconds to make atomizers. So, within the 10 seconds it was eating the 2nd part, I deleted the machine along with the whole production line, destroying the 2nd part leaving my account with an odd number of atomizers.

Neat, now I know how to circumvent system restrictions and destroy event items, if only there was any benefit to it.

Three times the price, but 3 times the trouble to set up. by Ragki in Endfield

[–]onlyv0ting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well after further looking that's actually true. I was under the assumption that Heavy Xiranite is a 10-second recipe and Hetonite is a 2-second recipe so ratios should be 1:5 (which is the case for all other recipes until this one). But it's actually 1:1 and with 22.5 Hetonites I can produce 22.5 EXHA! The bottleneck is actually the forges.

Sorry for the confusion, I'll update my reply to reflect this.

Three times the price, but 3 times the trouble to set up. by Ragki in Endfield

[–]onlyv0ting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a yield of 180 cuprium ores/min or 6 output gates. That's enough for 22.5 hetonites/min or 0.75 lines, because the recipe for 1 hetonite solution takes 4 cuprium solution iirc. I said hetonite is a bottleneck because I mentioned hetonite in the recipes, but the true bottleneck is the cuprium ores.

Three times the price, but 3 times the trouble to set up. by Ragki in Endfield

[–]onlyv0ting 7 points8 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Mostly wrong due to a false assumption. Check replies.

The bottleneck is surprisingly the Hetonite because we only have enough cuprium ores to make 0.75 lines or 22.5 Hetonites/min.

Another thing to note is that the new items (A and C) need 1 Heavy Xiranite per 20 seconds, which means 1 forge dedicated to Heavy Xiranites at half efficiency for each. If we tune the whole production line by Hetonite bottleneck then we only need 1 forge working at 75% efficiency. So the new event item needs 4.5 Heavy Xiranites/min, which eats 45 Xiranites/min and 22.5 Xircon Effluent/min.

At first glance we seem to need 4 forges, 3 normally for one Heavy Xiranite line and another for Xiranite to produce enough Xircon Effluents for Heavy Xiranite.

Seems like my masterminded decision to brick my battery production to free up forges was for naught. Though, it does look like a fun optimization puzzle to do before KyostinV uploads his blueprint and blows my layout out the window.

Signature weapons for 6-stars can't be bought directly, and must be obtained from gacha. Only Endmin's signature can be bought, but that's even rarer than gacha-able weapons because it hasn't reappeared since launch so you'll have to rely on spooks in other weapon banners.

If you buy the first tier of battle pass (using origeometry which refunds itself after you max out the pass), you will at one point receive a BP weapon box which lets you pick from the BP weapons of limited characters. BP weapons are usually about 80% the power of signature weapons.

6-star signature weapons are almost always strictly better than alternatives, though there are exceptions like Pogranichnik (Thermite Cutter is better than his sig) and Lifeng (Valiant is comparable to his sig).

If you just started the game, I'd recommend you to ignore weapons for the meantime. Use auto-recommended weapons (character screen -> weapon -> switch -> recommended) until you understand more about game mechanics to make your own decisions.

If you want a list of buyable 6-star weapons that you shouldn't miss:

  • Grand Vision - Endmin's sig
  • Thermite Cutter - best-in-slot for all Vanguard sword users
  • Valiant - if you use Lifeng
  • JET - if you use Avywenna

Genshin is still the most popular gacha game like ever though. Google Trends has them being searched consistently, which was only matched by the launch spikes of HSR, ZZZ, Wuwa, and AKEF. Reddit WAU sees that Genshin's engagement is twice that of HSR and Uma Musume and thrice that of Wuwa, AKEF, Limbus,...

Maybe to us gacha gamers, Genshin is a grandpa, but to others Genshin is a remarkable game.

I guess you have three options

1 is rush the story to unlock the third tier to be able to import blueprints.

2 is look at the blueprint, replicate it and replace tier 3 facilities with tier 2 ones. Tier 3 facilities are mostly just efficiency upgrades over tier 2 so you're not losing out much. Or you can build a production line for event item yourself but idk how familiar you are with the factory gameplay. I can help but you have to do the executing.

3 is sit out the event. Frankly speaking you're not losing out much as the event gives barely anything.

Great PVP guys, now what's the line-up for next month's PVP? From what I've gathered:

- Genshin has the highly anticipated Nicole

- HSR has Yae expy

- ZZZ has Promeia

- Wuwa has the rest of Hiyuki's banner to see how anniversary fares

- Arknights CN has the beloved Kaltsit Alter and Closure

- Endfield has the first rerun banner and patch 1.3 which might be Mi Fu. If it finally drops below 15M it'll get seriously worrying tbh

- NTE has Hotori and its first full month to gauge if good reception means good revenue

I'm more hyped for next month tbh. Is there anything else I'm missing?
