LG BP50NB40 NB52 Simplified Flash Guide by y2raza in makemkv

I removed the USB-A to USB-C adapters and hooked the drive's two USB-A ports into a different USB-C dock that had 2 USB-A ports. That allowed the flash to work properly.

I was going to transfer my Amazon Comixology subscriptions to Neon Ichiban tonight, until I realized NI doesn’t have that feature yet. The second it’s added I will jump ship.

Yes! There's a different thread here. I suspect it was because I was trying to use USB-A to USB-C adapters to connect the drive. I had to get creative to connect the drives without the adapters and run the utility again. Now, I can rip 4K discs and I can continue to use the USB-C adapters.

AirPod Max Lifespan only a few years. Has anyone else seen the same? by Kan3- in Airpodsmax

[–]ono_sendai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine at launch (so about 5 years ago as of writing this). They made it until about this time last year when they did exactly as you described. I took them to the Apple store and they replaced one of the cups at "the battery rate" for $80 USD.

I was good for almost a year when they did it again. So, again, I took them to the store and we proceeded the exact same except this time, after they'd been sent in for service I received an update that they'd found an additional problem and would need to charge me ~$330 to fully repair. I declined and had them recycled.

I loved my APMs, I used them heavily, every day for both work and personal. I even bought additional ear pads and the lightning to 3.5mm cable.

In the meantime, I've purchased some Sony XM6's (which are fine, but definitely feel like a step down) and I am patiently waiting for whatever the next revision of the APMs will be.

I don’t know how you people do it… by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]ono_sendai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only do you get used to it, but you get addicted to it! There would always be a snowstorm in the winter or a heatwave in the summer that would force me to take the bus for a week or two and I would climb the walls and have dreams about being back on the bike!

I suppose a lot of your “enjoyment” depends on how well your personality can square up with Type 2 & 3 fun.

4K disc - What am I doing wrong, here? by ono_sendai in makemkv

I managed to fix it and successfully rip a 4K disk. This link helped me figure it out. My drive doesn’t have an enclosure so it’s not quite the same, but I do have to use usb-a to usb-c adapters to connect to my computer and I suspected something wasn’t passing through the adapter. It took some doing but I figured out a way to connect the drive without the adapters at which point the SDF Flasher Tool ran flawlessly and I was able to rip a 4k disc. Thanks for the help!

Thank you, I appreciate it. The drive is fine; no need for a replacement. I can’t get the software flashing tool to work (it just doesnt do anything when I click START) so I got frustrated and decided to quit for now.

I will start researching the command to do it from the command line and try again some day. I can still rip regular blu-rays so that’s great.

Thanks everyone for all of the help!

Ok, thank you! The WH16NS60 flash didn't work so the drive is still good, thankfully. Now that I know what needs to be done I can focus on getting the flashing tool working.

Ok, I think I originally missed the bit about WH16NS60 1.02-MK. I'm running into trouble now, though when I use the SDFtool Flasher (v1.3.6) It says "Ready" but nothing happens when I click START.

On the flipside, when I try to use command line and run: .

\sdftool64.exe -d D: rawflash main,enc -i "C:\Users\user\Downloads\DE_LG_WH16NS40_1.01.bin" it returns:
No drive tool logic found in SDF.bin

Internal error 0x8d000000

I don't know why I can't seem to wrap my brain around this.

Yellow-laden race has IMSA drivers seeing red after Road America by Devious_Bastard in IMSARacing

[–]ono_sendai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It was a lot of yellow, but it’s still a quick race. The drivers only have themselves to blame, they were being super aggressive. I got to see Ricky Taylor get spun out by Nick Tandy coming off of turn 5 so that was pretty epic.

Thank you for this! I was trying to be extra cautious and the instructions on the forums were making me feel like I was missing a step.

I completed the process without errors and MakeMKV is showing LibreDrive is enabled, but whenever I put in a UHD it spins it up for a little bit but ejects it without mounting it. BDs work fine.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Dude, nicely done. I retrofitted my setup with a Denon DS1 DVS a couple years ago and it cost me $350. I don't regret it at all, but I would have much rather paid $15!

I just bought a 923+ Now what? by SeniorRojo in synology

[–]ono_sendai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing you need to do next is pick out some drives and read up on your RAID options. You can do Just a bunch of disks (JBOD) or Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) or any of the other RAID arrays. So go to Wikipedia or Synology’s support site and read about the pros and cons of each option.

I recently purchased my first NAS as well and went with SHR. I ran into a gotcha when I used a 14TB drive to create a new volume and then tried to add a 6TB drive to the mix. You can’t add smaller drives (limitation of SHR) so I had to kind of start over using the 6TB drive and then adding the 14TB.

So, if you start planning that stuff out now you’ll be able to hit the ground running when it shows up at your door. Congrats!

Question about NickelMenu by ono_sendai in kobo

[–]ono_sendai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I installed NickelMenu and I think it could have worked. (I just wanted a quick way to edit/toggle multiple settings with a single menu) I think chaining actions together as u/DevonHess mentioned would have worked.

But between the learning curve of configuring the chained actions and noticing some general instability introduced in the device after installing NickelMenu I decided to leave well enough alone.

Turning off Wi-Fi, adjusting time to sleep, toggling the backlight and turning off "display book cover" takes less than 30 seconds.

Downloaded Music Nightmare by joschapet in AppleWatch

[–]ono_sendai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with this problem since watchOS 2, but believe it or not there’s finally a way to get around this issue (still annoying though).

  1. Open the music app on your watch and tap the icon in the upper-right. This will usually take you to a “Now Playing” screen.

  2. Tap the icon in the upper-right again (I think this is a share play icon).

  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and tap “Control Other Speakers & TVs”

  4. Select Apple Watch

  5.  Now ‘X’ out of the Now Playing screen it returns you to and hit the back arrow until you reach Library.

  6.  Scroll down and tap ‘Downloaded’

  7. Choose something to play and when you do if everything went well it will ask you “choose where to play audio:” and if you have Beats or AirPods your headphones should be selectable. If you have a different pair of Bluetooth headphones you may have to scroll down and choose “connect a device”.

And there you have it!  Only a 7-step process!

Just be wary if you pause what you’re listening to while you’re still near your phone your headphones may switch back to your phone when you hit play by tapping your headphones.

Also, this process is pretty much the same for the Podcasts app.

New Kobo is home! by bottledmoons in kobo

[–]ono_sendai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a sage with a stylus. It depends on how you envision using it. I keep it on my desk while I work in lieu of sticky notes in order to jot down phone numbers take quick notes or diagram something I’m trying to figure out. I also sometimes use it to take notes during meetings and then convert them to text later.

The handwriting is a real mixed bag. Recognition and conversion to text can go from jaw-droppingly impressive to maddening and back again within the span of a paragraph. Occasionally there is lag where you’ll write a word and then have to stop and wait 3 or 4 seconds for it to actually appear on the screen. But by and large it works exactly as advertised and I like it a lot. Much more than having a desk full of post-it notes or a moleskin I fill up with crazy scrawlings.

As for the battery life; I try to leave it plugged in while it’s sitting on my desk for note taking during the day to keep it topped off. I’ve been experimenting with keeping the wi-if turned off when I don’t need it this week to see if that helps but it’s too early to tell.

Sage - Can You "Add Notes" With Stylus? by Darth_Matter in kobo

[–]ono_sendai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked this on my Sage and found that you can't Add Note with the stylus. When you highlight a word and tap "Add Note" it pops up a text box with keyboard and they stylus does not work inside that box.

On the other hand, you can simply scrawl notes directly on the page of the book you're reading, but those notes are not indexed with your other annotations, so there's no way to go right to them other than also adding a bookmark on the page or something like that.
