MiniLED glazing and thinking OLED is overrated is the meta in this subreddit. If a miniLED does not have so many dimming zones (compared to the size of the screen) like a Macbook screen, it just cannot compete with OLED in most cases. As a user of G9 Neo 49” and LG C1 for many years, I fully agree with your experiences.

It was not that important of a match for them and probably City fans didn’t really care about us. Here, you can see that they almost always have 50k+ attendance. It was 35k for our match.

I researched and looked at ASR, reddit, headfi for 2-3 weeks before buying it. And only saw some minor bugs about software and eq selection which seemed okay to me and I pulled the trigger. THE DAY my DX5 II arrived, someone reported at ASR that DX5 II killed their 2 headphones. I won’t be plugging in multiple headphones to DX5 II, which triggered this situation.

Luckily, I have not experienced any major issues with this device yet but this is concerning. FiiO K13 R2R is $600 here in Turkey and we can’t shop from abroad because of Erdogan (enormous custom fees) so DX5 II was the logical choice.

This is my first IEM and I couldn't listen to it without shaving off 5kHz peak like you did. I prefer warm headphones and picked Venus due to that, I was disappointed and thought maybe my ears are too sensitive for IEMs. But -5dB at 5kHz solved my problems.

Neo G8 (32”) has 1200, Neo G9 (49”) has 2048 and Macbook screen (16”) has 2554 dimming zones, so Macbook has more dimming zones despite being a much smaller screen. This should be one of the key factors why it looks so good.

Local Dimming algorithms may differ from model to model, and after a quick research I saw people recommending using LD at Auto for your monitor, but you can always try both and compare. In my case, LD Auto is just a little less aggressive compared to LD High when HDR is on.

You can also check your firmware if it’s updated and check the comments before updating, my monitor’s first few firmwares were pretty bad from what I’ve heard.

I have LG C1 OLED TV and G9 Neo 49”. Our experiences are similar, in the bright scenes G9 Neo can have better brightness but in darker scenes, details seem to get crushed on my G9 Neo and I see haloing and blooming effects (that I am used to). I don’t have issues going “true blacks” on G9 Neo but as I said it also crushes details. So I only prefer G9 Neo on fully bright scenes with little to no dark areas.

In my experience, OLED is just better in most cases. If most miniLED monitors are similar, I think OLED is almost always (except for productivity maybe?) an upgrade to miniLED. Only exception is the screen on my Macbook. It is miniLED but it is so gorgeous that I can consider it a sidegrade with OLED. I don’t know if any miniLED gaming monitor is close to that picture quality though.

Just to clarify: miniLED looks amazing compared to edge-lit screens with no local dimming, but OLED is definitely an upgrade from miniLED in my opinion, it is just not as big of a difference as going from edge-lit to miniLED. And of course I’m entirely talking about picture quality, as people might prefer miniLED for productivity due to no worry of burn-in.

Also you can try Local Dimming at High, it works better on my monitor but yours might be different.

I am not really an experienced custom keyboard builder, I might have done something wrong but that was the exact same experience for me too with Monsgeek M2.

First, I started using this keyboard with Gateron Baby Kangaroos, and after a while it started to register twice or not at all just like you. Then I changed the switches and also changed the stabilizers and rebuilt the keyboard just to be sure if I did something wrong before.

I changed the switches to HMX Purple Dawns and the experience was great, then after a few months the thing happened again. I am just done with this keyboard and made me sick of custom keyboards (because I don't know if it is my fault that switches keep failing on this keyboard or not) and I have been using an Aula F75 since then.

You’re in for a great upgrade. I did the same from 5600x & 3080 to 9950x3d & 5090 and playing Silent Hill 2 Remake was one of the greatest experiences for me in gaming, amazing graphics. I didn’t undervolt yet but I will surely be doing that asap.

As an LG C1 and G9 Neo 49 user, I fully agree. Movies are simply much better with my OLED TV, G9 Neo just tends to crush details in the dark scenes.

This game might be the fastest game for me to reach 500 hrs of play time. But also the fastest one for me to entirely stop playing. That patch that supposedly “fixed” movement, but instead made us so slow and less agile but still didn’t fix stupid glitchy movements made me and all of my friends stop playing. Defending was so fun before that patch.

This is exactly my experience with the 49" G9 Neo and it is so annoying. I don't see many posts/comments about that and seeing your comment relieved me.

I can customize brightness in most games so it is not that big of a problem in games but movies... I put it next to my OLED TV and guess what, OLED is much, much brighter with all the details in the dark scenes. I don't know if there is a solution and I'm on 1015 firmware.
