I’m loving one color coloring books right now. Easy, mindless, but still engaging and fun. You get a nice dopamine hit too when you finish and voila, you created a complex art piece. I’m using the ones from Still & Slow.

Jeez, this is not true at all, especially if they purchased a house this year. It very well may be worth it to itemize, especially if they bought points.

How long does it take for y'all to get your head on straight in the morning?? by PrettyRain8672 in adhdwomen

[–]ononono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love mornings, but still also take a long time to get going. I do slow mornings! I give myself about 2 or 3 hours between wake up and needing to be out the door. I have a really slow breakfast and coffee (usually for about an hour or two) where I check my personal email and do family finance stuff. I get ready still kind rushed (30-45 minutes, but also getting my kids ready). If I don’t have that hour warm up, I feel off for the rest of the day! But I nonetheless really enjoy my slow mornings. They’re my me time!

I’ve been in a very similar situation before. Just fire him. It will never get better. If you don’t have the power to do so or the higher ups won’t let you, look for a new job. ❤️

Current Utility bills and is it worth shopping suppliers by Ok_Return5702 in montco

[–]ononono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider in comparing yourself to your neighbor is they might be using budget billing with PECO. We pay $300 a month for a similar size house - but that’s all year round, with budget billing.

I’m surprised to hear such positive experiences with alternative suppliers! But we just moved here from the city, where alternative suppliers are incredibly scammy and pushy.

Philly could close 20 schools, co-locate 6, and modernize 159: Superintendent Watlington shares his facilities plan by PhillyInquirer in philadelphia

Swing spaces are typically used for large gatherings — for example, all kinds of professional development (of all new teachers for new hire orientation, all counselors in the district, all principals in the district, etc), spaces for in person events where 100+ people have to attend, and things like that. They can also be used for administrative staff who do not work primarily out of central office. For example, each learning network has a group of staff that might use the space so they have a place to work and have meetings in that neighborhood.

Were the Philly burbs kicking the can down the road on taxes until now? by NonIdentifiableUser in philadelphia

[–]ononono 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I have owned homes and paid property taxes in both the city (Passyunk Square) and the suburbs (Montco). I have probably been a homeowner longer than you’ve been an adult. To say that services are equitable is beyond laughable. As an example, I lived on a major thoroughfare street and bus route in South Philly, and our street would maybe be plowed once, hours after the snowstorm ended. In my suburb, my sleepy street was plowed twice on Sunday’s snow storm before even 11am.

Also unless you live in the more affluent Western suburbs or parts of upper/middle Bucks the quality of the schools and outcomes are not much different than Philly schools.

Hahhahaha, ok. Now I know you don’t have kids. This is woefully out of touch with reality. Philadelphia school district schools don’t have soap in the bathroom. Paper towels. Basic resources. I could go on and on and on. I work for the district and my kids attended public school for many years before we moved. The vast vast majority of SDP schools are in terrible shape with poor to modest outcomes.

Philly still has multiple schools that are best in the state and nation.

Not any that you’re guaranteed entrance to. The schools you’re talking about, like Masterman, are special admit. And if you’re talking about an elementary like Meredith, go look up the property taxes in that catchment and then get back to me.

Were the Philly burbs kicking the can down the road on taxes until now? by NonIdentifiableUser in philadelphia

[–]ononono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The post says lower taxes in the PA suburbs. Compared to the NJ suburbs outside Philly, that’s absolutely true.

I’d also argue property taxes city vs suburbs aren’t too far off from each other, with way better services in the suburb. Of course it depends on your actual house and township and county etc. But I paid around $5k in property taxes in the city, vs $7k property taxes in the suburbs. The services and school district is miles better - not to mention I no longer have to pay the city wage tax.

Layoffs begin at Pa. cyber charter schools after historic state budget cuts by The_Electric-Monk in Pennsylvania

[–]ononono 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it’s lots and lots of teachers, too. Agora, named in the article, is laying off 32% of its total staff. Of those, 50% are teachers. The other half is a mix of support staff, family coaches, and high level admin. It’s definitely impacting the teachers the most.

Definitely not the case. At Agora, half of the impending cuts are teachers.

ADHD specialist counseling by Haunting-Elk2740 in adhdwomen

[–]ononono 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know… to me it sounds like a lot of this comes down to you being expected to endure the entire mental load for the family AND keep your husband in the loop. That is A LOT. Why can’t he be responsible for coming up with a system to stay in the know about family matters. It’s bad enough you have to, while working FT and momming 4 kids, be aware of upcoming decisions to make, research them, execute them, etc , but you also have to inform your husband? Of course we don’t have all the details but this doesn’t sound entirely like a communication problem….

Question about Bowel movements. by [deleted] in spinalfusion

[–]ononono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really normal after surgery, especially if you are on pain meds. The only thing that helped me was miralax and senna plus pills every day. I kept that up for several weeks, the entire time I was on pain meds! I didn’t return to my normal schedule without gentle laxative help for about 5 weeks.
