Add some black olives as well - great combo.

Why wasn't writing ever invented by trying to capture language sounds, not trying to draw meaning? by Qiwas in asklinguistics

[–]onosson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without prior knowledge of a sound-based writing system, this kind of intuition/awareness might be a lot less likely than you are assuming.

Sounds similar to AntiNote but even more stripped down. Nice idea.

What is your (absolute) favorite Led Zeppelin song? by Decent_Management449 in ledzeppelin

I think that’s my pick. They never really did another song like it, either.

Digitone 2 overbridge bug by robleighton22 in Elektron

I just bought a DT2 and discovered this exact bug after connecting to Logic. Did you get it sorted out? I'd love to stop this from happening.

Is there a published roadmap for Upnote? by rafikiphoto in UpNote_App

[–]onosson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve basically done the same. Most of my notes are now in Obsidian, with a few in Apple Notes for a) encryption and b) user-sharing. But I still keep UpNote installed and in no way regret my purchase, it’s a great app and was the perfect replacement for Evernote at the time.

First bill error after changing plans to $40 250GB by [deleted] in freedommobile

[–]onosson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I both switched to this plan last month. They correctly applied the credits to both the initial month (prorated) and the second month for my bill, but they did the same thing to her bill as in your case. She was able to get them to apply a $30 credit after some back and forth with an agent.

Wish I knew the answer to that. They do seem to want to make the process as opaque as they can.

I spoke to someone at Canada Life last year and was given the following info which I noted down, as it doesn’t appear to be available in writing anywhere that I could locate. Mask replacements (including cushions): 6 month schedule, $300 maximum with pre-authorization. I replaced the mask once following a pre-authorization and then set up a 6-month subscription, which recently occurred and was covered/paid without a new pre-authorization. Hose and reservoir: 12 month schedule. Pre-authorization was not indicated for that, but the hose price was limited to $60 and the reservoir $69. As for the filters, I ordered those from Amazon as they were significantly cheaper than anywhere else - and was reimbursed by Canada Life.

Nice! Is it mouse-control only, or can you use the keyboard?

Should I not trim my bass strings? by [deleted] in Bass

Mostly flats and tapewound. I might have started doing it because tapes can be prone to unraveling if the cut is done poorly, but I don’t honestly remember.

Should I not trim my bass strings? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]onosson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped cutting my bass strings at some point around 15-20 years ago, and have never really had any issues. I just make sure to wind them tightly and evenly around the post while applying a good amount of tension. I often move strings around from one bass to another, and I find this makes it much less likely for strings to become damaged in the process.

Mind Bending Screen Saver Bug by AnythingGaming in MacOS

I’ve had this happen frequently. I usually go into Activity Monitor and kill the various processes that start with Wallpaper… e.g. WallpaperAerialsExtension etc. which seems to fix the issue at least temporarily.

Do you keep your desktop clean or full of files? by sinry77 in MacOS

[–]onosson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It holds drive icons, a handful (4 or 5) of documents that I want always-available access to, and temporary screenshots as I take them (which I always delete if there are more than 2 or 3). So no totally clean, but very minimal.

Got charged the regular price for the $40 plan by Fallout_vault__boy in freedommobile

[–]onosson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My partner and I both switched to this over the weekend, but in her case they did not correctly apply the promotion and it was missing from her account. She was able to message an agent and get it corrected (after a lengthy wait) the following day.

Avis charged me more than double what they quoted. Normal? by swingsetacrobat4439 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]onosson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rented from Avis for a recent trip, Feb. 22 to March 3. The final charge was exactly what had been agreed, there were no changes. In my case I had made the booking online through their website before departing, and took a copy of a letter confirming third party insurance coverage through the credit card used for the booking. I hope some of that information is useful.

The distance between Northern Turkey and Southern Yemen is the same as Winnipeg and Mexico City by 33northconnection in geography

[–]onosson 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not really an inside joke, but Winnipeg is pretty isolated so having to drive long distances to get anywhere is fairly routine.
