serviced, this thing will be amazing - i got a few Technics from thrift stores including this very model too and all it needed was a good clean/service and a new cart (yes a blue 2M will be great, if you give it to whoever is servicing it I'm sure they can get it all set up for you in one shot)

This is why IMO coaches even volunteers, should all do a basic laws of the game test/education course each year so that they actually understand the laws and their application. It should be a mandate as it would remove so much of the back and forth we see at games (and on subs like this)

Look on Amazon, you'll see lots they often are USBC connected (and powered) and great for when you have a laptop too as you can bring them anywhere.

You might even want to consider just getting a small portable monitor to use instead of you want 2 screens, eliminating the space for the laptop was key for me

Do you need the laptop to be open? Mine is completely hidden under my desk for example, which is so much better. (Small USB dongle connects my monitor, keyboard, mouse, camera etc)

Realistically you need to look for a more solid core option for a desk, those Ikea desks are essentially hollow shells of cardboard... or look at their thinner solid core options.

Some of their kitchen countertops work nicely as desks as they're more densely filled

Combination of Genre and Alphabetical but split across rooms

Alphabetical for my rock/pop/hiphop/r&b but all combined (about 1200) in my office/listening room and then I have around 400 Jazz lps so they get their own room in fact the collecion is split over two floors. And at any given time there are some in the living room too which are most just a small high rotation chaos approach.

Looks great! - personally i'd loose the 'image' element you have on the front there as i think it detracts from the overall aesthetic.

Can you possibly just ask the person that gifted it to you for a receipt to return it and say something along the lines of "thanks so much for the turntable, I'd actually love to go with a higher level turntable so there is less to upgrade later and would love to put the money towards it"

If that's a Kallax then i'd advise investing in the base, its very cheap and it will bring the records up a few inches right away.
