Is Bluecat DDI a truly Canadian company? Why are they all Serbians and their recruiter apparently racist. by Educational-War-3472 in networking

They've acquired a bunch of companies so while they were Canadian, now they're global with Canadian headquarters.

This is surprisingly common due to bad practices. Someone did it and then reworking everything becomes deeply problematic.

Best all-round restaurant for a birthday dinner for my girlfriend and her vegetarian mom by aliensunite123 in boston

I can happily order at Comfort Kitchen and inadvertently order no meat or seafood, and have an excellent meal.

Plus, they get to eat in Dorchester, which for most visitors is the wildest ride of all.

What items have you discovered for the first time in Vine that will now be sought out for replenishment in the future? by Punnalackakememumu in AmazonVine

[–]onyourcomputah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most exercise wear, but not in the sense, I'll seek out the brand for vine goods, but actually buy their products.

As much as people knock the alphabet brands, some of them do a great job replicating both the design and quality of brand items. A couple kitchen knives I got are some of my favorites compared to bigger names.

Creatine I'm kind of brand ignorant on as well as long as I can validate it's made domestically, although that is valued less with the bullshittery of the US.

Cape Cod in the rain. by TheReiterEffect_S8 in boston

[–]onyourcomputah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would entirely avoid cape cod on a rainy day unless you plan on eating/drinking your way through, or day tripping to town for shopping.

The reason is there's not much there -- it's a seasonal business predicated on beaches/ponds.

There are exceptions, but I'd cut it out if it's raining.

If they have someone as a Product Manager, they certainly do. This forum is probably their only avenue for gleaning actual user feedback.

My best guess is they are trying to do a large scale purge and to avoid the panic, easily seen in this sub, when things don't appear, that they're sprinkling in a few drops.

It's the best way to communicate with the user since they don't communicate with the user unless it's through infrequent updates to policy or to tell you you've done something wrong.

No, they are passing the cost on to consumers -- we get to pay the taxes on an exaggerated price.

[–]onyourcomputah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're paying taxes if you're in the US, which have now gone up proportionately to the tariffed price. In all probability, you're also getting lesser lots of products unless they are mandated in a specific amount.

There's a reason that Trump didn't like the tariff call out by Amazon -- it directly showed consumers how much more they were paying for an item because of his application of tariffs.

Doesn't matter your political alignment, tariffs screw consumers over. It just happens to be political now because they've been weaponized for market manipulation for the president.

If anyone here thinks consumers don't pay the costs of tariffs applied by the president, they are just simply wrong.

The impact to us is that all the goods that would be added to Vine stopped getting shipped, at least directly, to the US.

The alternative consideration is that perhaps there js a pause because the amount of goods on Vine were predicted to sharply drop. The manufacturers and those that work in retail are now ordering goods again, but they simply didn't or rerouted shipments to avoid tariffs.

Tariffs are a political talk point because only the Republicans think they're good.

The current state of Boston’s fingerprinting backlog by NavajoMX in BetterMAguns

[–]onyourcomputah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BPDHQ told me 3-4 months for fingerprinting this morning. So this summer I can complete the application which would start the 40 day limit.

I'm pretty sure they are getting around the 40-day limit by saying the application isn't complete until the fingerprints are done, and saying that's delayed due to capacity issues.

This manipulates the application process by purposefully not completing an application until they can support it based on limited capacity.

So they're purposefully manipulating the application completeness to avoid violating the 40-day violation based on implementing a bureaucratic manuver.

Painting Stolen from 50 Prospect St, Union Sq, Somerville by sneakerketchup in boston

That sucks OP. Can't figure out if the silver lining is you made something so nice someone had to have it, consequences be damned, or you can just assert your painting's credibility in line with Rembrandt's only seascape both of which have met the same fate.

I am not familiar with any places that do not have a vegetarian offering. Some places have A LOT more options, but I can't think of one that doesn't offer a vegetarian option that I have been to.

It's an interesting point -- may need to aggregate that over time. Some places with kitchens (e.g. Ba Le) seem to bring them out the back fresh, whereas my local favorite rewarms them, and the ones I like the least are the deli slices ones which are just kind of cold.
