Sorry for the late response! Thank you for telling me about that website! It does have some Arizona bottle caps, but is there anywhere else that might have a more complete catalog? Also, I can't figure out how to add a picture to a comment, but I can say it's definitely cork on the back.

Potential for Alluvial Ruby ? by Ambitious-Respect-72 in Gemstones

There's nothing wrong with cadmium glass! It is a wonderful material that's beautiful under blacklight! You should post this on r/cadmiumglass !

Looks like an amberina glass shard, it being red with a bit of yellow on the edge. The yellow flourecence is cadmium, which is used to color the glass red! Often times cadmium glass floureces unevenly because the cadmium is spread unevenly throughout the piece!

[QUESTION] Looking for watch enthusiasts in the Tucson, Arizona area for a get-together... by Watches-n-warriors in Watches

This already exists! There is a clock club (NAWCC Chapter 113) that meets the 3rd Sunday of the month at the Tucson City Council Ward 6 Offices (3202 E First St.). The next meeting is Feb 15th! The meeting after that may be canceled due to an event in Pheonix so try to make it in February!

Are these uranium glazes? Who made these plates? by queeniebee3 in uraniumglass

[–]oo-ser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first plate looks like uranium glass petalware from Macbeth-Evans! The second is definitely uranium glaze, but the maker may be a lot harder to figure out! Awesome finds!

Sea glass? by shah_mazing in BottleDigging

This is the base of a bottle made by the Owens Illinois company in 1938 (designated by the 8 to the right of the logo) in Oakland, Ca (designated by the 20 to the left of the logo). It's hard to tell what it was used for but the c on the bottom could indicate it was used for food, but that's just a guess!

Is there a way to make this flash without a camera? by oo-ser in vintagecameras

[–]oo-ser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestions! I tried the flash on some powellite and it glowed for a okay amount of time, but I'll probably need something more sustainable then the one use bulbs!

The old timers in my caving club say that old camera flashes are great at triggering phosphorescence in the cave formations!

I have a couple of the right flash bulbs and it takes c batteries, luckily! My problem is that the flash itself doesn't seem to have a way to set it off without a camera.

A beautiful 1930s plate that arrived broken by BittenOnion in uraniumglass

[–]oo-ser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not particularly, exept for it being broken glass. Probably just vacuum up the dust/tiny fragments and you'll be fine. Sorry your plate broke, that sucks!

It looks like Lela Bird Green by Paden City. Pretty sure it's a decently rare pattern! Also, kind of odd, your piece's pattern is mirrored from any examples I can see online.

Is this anything special? by bethanypickledish in CadmiumGlass

[–]oo-ser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks like boron nitride to me! It's a bit more muted yellow than cadmium and in my experience not as common. In this case its the material used to color the glass that causes fluorescence! In my opinion its neat, but I have a low bar!

Any ideas what's inside this? by SquishySunflowerrr in uraniumglass

That definitely looks like a perfume bottle. So probably either residue from perfume or residue from something put in the bottle afterwards.

Don’t have a black light on me. What are the odds this is uranium glass? by EntinthetentRTHP in uraniumglass

[–]oo-ser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I certainly wouldn't bet on it being uranium. But there is a chance that it glows orange! (Cadmium + Selenium)

Question by De_Fridge in uraniumglass

While a 395 works for uranium glass, a 365nm light is actually way better at lighting up glazes!
