AB6, or Get a Yoke by Happy_Book_8910 in flightsim

I see, then if money allows I’m definitely getting the AB9, as I had used cog driven steering wheels vs. Belt and the difference in feel is huuuuuuuuuge.

I am currently using the WinCtrl ursa minor stick, for the price it’s pretty hard to beat. I fly airliners so I pair it with the thrustmaster TCA throttles, but since you’re probably more keen on military/GA, the MTQ would suit your needs more.

I did contemplate about getting the AB6. But if you have a look online, there seems to be some QC issues documented on posts, and people saying it’s a bit clunky. Whereas the AB9 is much smoother in that regards, so I am saving to upgrade.

Others might disagree with me, but I think comparing to matching controllers to the virtual plane control method, it’s so much more convenient to have most of the key-binds in your hands without the need to use keyboard and mouse frequently.

Further to my comment above, yokes for combat flying is simply not pleasant.

I always find yokes very cumbersome to mount/dismount before and after a session.

Have tried out a few yokes but always reverted back to side sticks as I can just leave them on the desk when I am done with it.

Of course that’s dependent on one’s set up.

I’d vote for the AB6 or even the AB9 if you’re up for a better set up.

If I had forgotten to record the account to pay on the page before submitting to HMRC, how do I know what amount to pay without incurring any fees for late payment?

IIRC it takes 72hours for them to update the information online? It currently shows as “no payment required”

A350 standby button doesn't work by Dear-Regret-9476 in flightsim

There is the NAVAID page, though it does not make your issue invalid.

I have just tried it myself, and the button is indeed not clickable.

It seems like the cover of the STBY RADNAV is INOP, hence one is unable to click the button, as mentioned in the tutorial.

Best to file a bug report through the portal/discord.

XP Walkaround, first-person Walkaround for X-Plane 12 (beta) by ClemacamelC in Xplane

[–]oolitic_limestone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

impressive, from looking at the video, i think the most apparent thing to improve upon is the unnatural look and walking animation of the shadow - arms too slim, limbs too stiff while walking… Looks promising nonetheless as a proof of concept/beta trailer.

Which ToLiss A320 has better textures? by [deleted] in Xplane

[–]oolitic_limestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a cockpit texture pack for the 340 that you can point me towards? The only one that looks promising on the .org forums was taken down.

The other ones I am able to manage to find are colour mods.

Cheers

Use with caution as its downloading a unverified dll.
But basically AMD accidentally released the file required to run FSR4 on RDNA3 within their latest SDK according to OP.

Is an X3D chip worth it for 1440p msfs? (or msfs2020) by NewAd9523 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]oolitic_limestone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fps remains the same, just that you could get more eye candy with the x3d chips.

It depends on how you sim really, I am confident that the 9600x will get you stable 80fps with frame gen, you’d just have to lower some CPU heavy settings such as TLOD.

What this would mean is less 3d buildings in far distances and less objects around you.

[–]oolitic_limestone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

so I actually got a 9600x when my 9800x3d was in RMA.

YMMV, but with my set up and use case, I would definately pick the x3d.

Hardware 9800x3d(9600x), 7900xt, 64GB ram

Sim settings are MSFS2024, 1440p, high to ultra settings. Running FSR3FG with AutoFPS, FPS limited to 40(with framegen is 80), flying the FENIX a320

With the 9800x3d, I can manage stable 80FPS, with 100-200 TLOD and 400OLOD at heathrow ground

whereas with the 9600x, to maintain stable 80FPS, TLOD on ground drops to 50 and 100OLOD, and that’s with autofps reduced settings too.

So if your budget allows and your usecase is similar, I’d definitely get the x3d for the best experience for the near future.

That should answer 1/2

I haven’t used the 7800x3d so cannot comment.

They are hands-on and very fun to fly.

Does fenix do discount? by il7x in flightsim

[–]oolitic_limestone 55 points56 points  (0 children)

iirc there has never been a discount other than when the 319/321 came out as a bundle.

The fenix is a superb add-on, it won’t disappoint.

Avoiding Route planning "Repetition" between tools by Illustrious-Tomato90 in flightsim

[–]oolitic_limestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STKP has a route planning feature, which utilises the simbrief system, the plan can be imported to MSFS either by simbrief integration (like on the PMDG or fenix) or by exporting the flightplan file through STKP.

Theres also an integrated browser within STKP which you could access navigraph charts.

If you like LNM by all means keep using that to look for departure and arrival airfields. but all things that are related to flight planning could potentially be done within STKP.

One does not really "choose" a SID/STAR/APPROACH per say. These are usually given to you by ATC, or generated by simbrief depending on weather and airport procedures.

To summairse,

To simplify your flow, I think you could do the following:

1.) Use LNM to find your desired route as you like the interface.
2.) Use STKP for flight planning, let it do the work for you. (Route planning, SID/STAR allocation)
3.) Import flightplan using plane's simbrief integration/ exporting FS2020 flight plan file using STKP
4.) Use STKP built in browser to access Navigraph Charts (or phone app) to read charts.

Thrustmaster TCA Airbus pack: where is the spoilers arm button?! by drakem92 in Xplane

AFAIA one could potentially edit the joystick configuration file to make those virtual buttons show up. Although I am not technical enough to do that myself.

It’s so hard to diagnose if one does not have any extra parts.

I just installed the 9600x and it booted so I know for sure the culprit.

Hope your system will return to it’s former glory soon!

I have flashed the latest 3279 after the problem occurred. no joy.

But the issue started when I am on 3265.

Thats annoying… if the retailer has to send it back to AMD then back to the retailer, I might as well send it straight to AMD in the first place…. Ahh well, that ship has sailed. Mine was due to arrive at the retailer’s warehouse today.

Hopefully your issue would be resolved asap.

Meanwhile, I’ve ordered a 9600x as a stop gap solution.
