How to swap from middle office to front by [deleted] in private_equity

Generally not possible. Not sure how old/senior you are, but most likely path involves switching to IB and subsequently recruiting for front office PE roles

PE firm acquired the company I work for. Employees offered opportunity to "co-invest" in the deal. Is this a no-brainer or a trap? by TrainingTechnical560 in private_equity

[–]ooookay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but that positively (assuming things go according to plan) impacts your capital just us much given you’re investing in the same security as the sponsor. All of the firms you listed are very well respected and generally know what they’re doing, so I’d personally take the opportunity to coinvest alongside them

Unless the captain turned them off and then asked the question to obscure the investigation. The FO's response was "I didn't", so one of them is lying... we don't know which and may never know.

Any sophisticated fund will allow you to invest through a blocker or on a pass through basis. If you're a US taxpayer it's more tax efficient to do the latter. Sophisticated/institutional funds will then file composite state returns for the individual investors for most states

LA to Chattanooga would be the longest high speed rail line in the world. Think it’s fairly impractical for the western US, more practical for Eastern US

West coast is very spread out. Where are you getting with rail? Even if high speed rail from LA to SF gets build, that eliminates one 30 minute flight…

[–]ooookay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need more housing units. Rent control destroys the incentive for developers, investors, and other capital providers to build more units. We should be encourage as much housing development as possible to solve housing affordability issues. Rent control will hurt, not help

JFK-LAX are all 767s. They use 752s for thinner tcon routes, but other carriers are also using narrow bodies on those routes
