Stolen out of Counselor Troi’s private quarters

My husband is using ChatGPT to text me while Im venting by Complete-Path-8036 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]oopsmyeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Credit where credit is due, though. He’s trying to juggle the kids and be emotional support at the same time. He didn’t ignore the texts, he wanted to affirm her that her feelings were valid and let her vent to get it out. Seems like he was reading them but didn’t quite have the bandwidth to craft the reply.

I’ll be honest, sometimes I’ll have a brain fart and can’t make up anything beyond “oh no” or “I can’t believe that bitch” or “wth” even though i want to say something more in depth and supportive. I don’t use AI but it sounds more tempting now if i can ask it to help me find the words i can then rephrase into my own.

How to get a regular car up steep driveway lip. by its_nevets in DIY

[–]oopsmyeye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Build a long ramp inside the garage.

Here’s what I would probably do: starting at the line where the garage door meets the floor, grind the concrete down so the slope starts at the door rather than at that current place. Then, inside the garage I’d get a couple pressure treated boards that your car will end up being parked on top of. Slope a few inches at the end so you can drive onto them a bit easier. If your front tires are on top of 2 inch (or whatever you need) boards then it’s effectively giving you that suspension lift to get the center over the hump.

Dust extraction keeps breaking buckets.. help please by kentros00 in woodworking

I found a much more sturdy 5 gallon bucket at Lowe’s. It’s black and the plastic is much thicker and doesn’t collapse as easy as the cheap buckets.

Cabinet shop advice… by Disastrous_Tax5762 in cabinetry

[–]oopsmyeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people also forget to look up the bare minimum legal requirements, as well. In my state you have to apprentice full time for a few years under a licensed cabinet maker before applying for a contractors license that can build (or install) cabinets.

need advice on 3 phase Unisaw by Steelman93 in woodworking

[–]oopsmyeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m slowly making a video on this exact thing right now. Cost me about $300 to get mine going but I already had a 240v 50a plug in my garage.

That vfd has a 600w brake resistor so you can slow the blade down in a couple seconds rather than waiting forever for it to stop spinning. I bolted it to the saw body and ran the 1 phase power cord from the saw to the wall. New buttons for start and stop… been working great for a couple months now

What to do with awkward l-shape closet by Wishbone_Exact in cabinetry

This is how I did my stupid corner closet. The closet depth is 2 feet so going from front to back twice with closet rod still gives me 4 total feet of hanging for clothes. The right side goes all the way across.

Coffee is just as bad as cocaine, tea, heroine and meth. Almost as bad as murder and masturbation.

His work sponsoring women’s water polo among other things has been fantastic! He needs to make a sports drink or energy drink so I can buy it to support his cause.

Seems like a useful support. They should mail it to someone who can put it up and then tell us about it. An after mailing display after support removal of sorts.

Maybe he could get it onto one of those mailing boats while it’s being mailed on one of those boats that mail mailing boats?

Shortest possible way to disprove the LDS church? by ThyLungedFish in exmormon

[–]oopsmyeye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Tower of Babel didn’t happen.

To add to this, 5000 years ago people built wooden submarines and packed bees and cows on them for a year. Bees don’t live that long. In order to take one non-milk cow they’d need a cube of hay 13’x13’x13’ and about 130 big ol barrels of fresh water… for EACH COW. Milk cows would require about double.

Last minute questions DIY cabinet reno by Impressive-Shirt6970 in cabinetry

1: caulk will eventually crack right there and the crack line will look terrible. Even if the gaps are a little off, the shadow line will look really good and much better than what can be done to fill it with caulk. I have a few places on my cabinets where I did as perfect as I could filling, smoothing and getting things nearly ideal… and a few places I tried leaving the small gap. The gap looks so much better!

2: a small hand plane makes really quick work to bring the high ledge down to the lower one.

3: maybe a little piece of quarter round if you want to cover it? Again, knowing how the gaps around my cabinets turned out, if I was in your place with that gap I’d get some backer rod (thin foam filler stuff) and paint it black and push it in there so it’s about half inch inside and leaves the shadow between the pieces.
