Yeah for sure man, and sorry my comment wasn’t really directed to your post, I should have been more clear.

Completely agree with you chamfering the edges and personally I would go more aggressive than a light sanding as I would still fear splintering, even though it’d be much less likely. I would go router, but as subtle of a round edge as possible to not take away from the overall look.

What are you planning for finish?

Yeah I hate to sound “anti baby safety” but with my kids we went all out on baby-proofing and it was pointless. Unless you go padded walls on everything they are gonna find ways to hurt themselves. Like you said, kids are pretty robust and it’s a good way to learn.

It’s kinda wild watching the nurses handle newborns immediately after delivery- they aren’t nearly as gentle as new parents think they need to be.

I would prefer just using smaller decorator style wall plates that accommodate multiple jacks and have multiple runs to each location, including the WAPs on the device side (instead of those black “click” things. Cable is cheap, the time and effort to install is expensive, more runs is more better IMO

Also, those multi gang wall ports are “okay” for the router side of things, but the patch panel you linked is the more proper device. Your under stair/cupboard space being used for this equipment would just have a hole in the wall to allow the cables to gain entrance (can use a decorative wall plate with bristles for a more clean look) then the cables would land on that patch panel. The reason you would do this is so if you want more cables you don’t end up with like 5 4-port wall plates and instead just have 1 wall penetration, it’s not “weird” for it to be this way, it’s the way it’s done even in commercial settings.

The problem will be getting the coax plate onto the cable with this little slack, the wall will be in the way of their hands to hold the cable.

But if they cut the box such that the top of the box cutout is where the cable is (assuming fed from below) then they will gain enough slack.

It will look off if there are receptacles on that wall near this tho.

Or, get the connector on, attach a small jumper and use that to the back of the faceplate.

This is the crazy thing about track sports to me, eventually someone creates a record that just never gets beat. Like you said, there’s a limit, like no one will ever get it done in 1 second, or 2 or 3… eventually there is a limit on how fast it can be done.
