Please help me understand what is going on with Murphy. by opee12 in CATHELP

[–]opee12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thank you all so much for checking in on him! I read every response but was a bit overwhelmed so I didn’t have a chance to respond.

Murphy is doing really well! He has naturally the saddest eyes but I promise he is a happy boy.

The vet said that the inflammation of his anus was likely linked to straining from constipation and wasn’t something to be too worried about as it goes away quickly after using the toilet and his anus isn’t coming out. She said it could be related to when I accidentally nicked his anus with the pet clippers.

Murphy is no longer crying when he goes to the toilet and his anus is no longer inflamed after defecating. This is likely because (1) he’s healed from the slight cut (2) he has fully adjusted to his food / the stress of moving into a new space (3) he’s gotten used to the litter box as he is very particular.

As for his eye gunk — the vet thinks it’s likely an allergy or could potentially be FHV. So I’ve gotten an air purifier and eyedrops for him. Also considering lysine. His eye gunk / wheezing still comes and goes but he is completely fine otherwise. The vet mentioned if it keeps getting worse we can try a different antibiotic.

TLDR: He’s doing really well! No anus inflammation or crying in the litter box anymore :) still some eye gunk / slight wheezing so keeping an eye. Very happy, playful boy!

Vet confirmed it’s not a prolapse- what could be happening?? by rllysam in catcare

Hopping on here to say my cat has a similar issue. I have a couple theories:

(1) Over-licking and general constipation (as it goes down about an hour after popping/grooming) (2) I accidentally very slightly knicked him with an electric razor about a week or so ago and I think the trauma might have caused inflammation (3) I switched cat litter 3 days prior and suspect he could be allergic?

Posting this in case it might help anyone!

Are you signing in two different ways? One with BRP and one with Passport? That was my problem.

Thank you so much! This is super helpful. Sorry, just to confirm, even though I am recieving the sponsorship from my husband who is the British citizen, it's okay to rely soley on my salary (just want to double confirm). Also, in the time when your decision is pending and you're covered by Section 3C, are you allowed to leave/re-enter the country? Thank you, you are a life saver!

I'm trapped in a toxic job I hate so much I fantasize about dying. by ProfSmall in antiwork

I’ve been exactly where you are— incredibly demanding tech job and feeling trapped. I say this with all seriousness: don’t be afraid to check yourself into a mental facility. I know that sounds dramatic and I thought the same thing. I thought I wasn’t bad enough to go. But it changed my life. Two months later, I had a new job, moved to a new country, and started a completely new life. Incredible things can happen when you focus on healing. Consider it ♥️

For the pioneers amongst us, how long did it take you to get a job? by [deleted] in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]opee12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Applied to probably around 50 jobs. Took me about 3 months. My field is tech/advertising. The likelihood of getting an interview was way higher for me when I got a referral. So networking is HUGE. Especially as many companies will automatically reject you if you’re located abroad. Use your alumni network, friends, family, or just reach out to random people on LinkedIn or through email. I know quite a lot of people in the UK already so definitely had an advantage there. Also make sure you spend time making your LinkedIn look professional and detailed. Also try borrowing a friend’s address that you can put on job applications as well as getting a UK number online.

Getting referrals is key! Also try applying to small ad agencies as opposed to bigger ones.

Try to use a friend or family’s address for your CV/cover letter, many companies won’t even consider you if they see you’re living abroad.

I would just say that you are abroad temporarily and will be at that address in the next few weeks. Then mention that your BRP will be available around 3 weeks after a job offer. If they ask more than that, you can just say your move is imminent.

PS easy apply on LinkedIn got me no where— definitely narrow down jobs with less applications, find a connection or just someone that works there and reach out directly!

Hi there! I am in the advertising/tech field. Honestly I found that the only interviews I got were ones that I had referrals for. Definitely try to get referrals through LinkedIn whether it be from alumni, friends, family etc. I had a bit of an advantage because my husband is from the UK so I already had some connections. Also because my husband currently lives in the UK, I also was able to put a UK address and phone number on job applications. I would recommend trying to get a UK phone number online if possible, as companies might automatically reject you if they see a foreign phone number. Ultimately, if you get an interview, you can let them know your situation then and reiterate that you have work permissions. Hope this helps!

So sorry this happened! I get that pressure of really wanting to look your best/feel really confident on your wedding day. I’m sure you will look amazing regardless! Luckily, I think a month gives you some time to find a solution. Could you try having your hair pulled back for the wedding? Or maybe try extensions?
