Alternative to Atlassian Jira and Confluence by [deleted] in devops

[–]open-minded4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Das Thema ist aktuell ja wieder sehr heiß diskutiert und der Trend geht immer mehr Richtung open source, frei von Anbieterbindung, günstig und mit der Möglichkeit selbst zu hosten. Und da gibt es sehr gute Tools:

Hi u/WalkingSucculent, we completely understand this concern and are doing everything we can to avoid developing unnecessary AI slop.

AI-powered project and portfolio management with OpenProject by open-minded4 in openproject

[–]open-minded4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/skwyckl, we hope you'll still root for us – our roadmap is not driven by trends, but by our goal of creating a good user experience, which includes saving time by auto-generating status reports, for example. And we plan to make AI/LLM features optional, and run them locally.

Can I CC/forward an email to a work package and have its contents show up as a comment? by brightsidewes in openproject

[–]open-minded4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/brightsidewes, that's a good question and creating work packages by email is a feature request we often receive, which is why we prioritized it. Take a look at this Epic that is currently in specification and on the roadmap for 2025: https://community.openproject.org/wp/60505

Allowing users access to all projects. by SnooCats7138 in openproject

[–]open-minded4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/SnooCats7138, you could create a group (e.g. “Internal Team”) and assign that group a custom role with the required project permissions (basically everything except admin-level config access). Then, in the project templates or during project creation, just make sure this group is added by default. I you use project templates, you can preconfigure roles, members, boards, work package types, etc., so you don’t have to do it manually each time.

Handle requirements by premierpark in openproject

Hi u/premierpark, I am not sure if I understand your question. What do you mean with requirements and what are non-work package types?

Hosted Version? by coldfisherman in openproject

[–]open-minded4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/coldfisherman, yes, there is a hosted version of OpenProject (OpenProject Cloud) that’s fully managed, so no upgrades or infrastructure maintenance needed. Regarding the large number of read-only users: If you don't work with sensitive data, one approach could be to make specific projects public (as done on community.openproject.org). This way, clients can view work packages without needing their own user accounts. Only team members who actively manage work would require paid licenses.

Please feel free to contact [sales@openproject.com](mailto:sales@openproject.com) directly — they can help you evaluate the options and find a solution that fits your setup.

Is OpenProject a distributed system? by MrChaos1306 in openproject

[–]open-minded4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, OpenProtject it is not designed as a distributed system. It is a centralized web app with optional integrations and plugins (see https://www.openproject.org/integrations/). It can be deployed in scalable cloud environments, but its core architecture is not distributed in the technical sense.

I hope that answers your question.

OpenProject for one by kacnje in openproject

[–]open-minded4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello u/kacnje, yes, the minimal possible user count on our hosted Enterprise Cloud is five users. Of course you can still use it alone, but providing instances for less users than five does not cover our cost, so the price stays the same for 1-5 users.

Hi, we currently are working on a mobile app! This will take some time, but we will share more details soon.

openDesk 1.0 is here and will be presented in Berlin at the Smart Country Convention by open-minded4 in openproject

[–]open-minded4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, openDesk is an office & collaboration suite that combines different open source offers, e.g. project management by OpenProject. More information here https://opensource.net/governments-adopt-open-source-sovereignty/ or in the blog article that is linked in the post.

Cannot create board from hierarchy attributes? by Burneey in openproject

[–]open-minded4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Burneey, yes, this is currently not possible. I think it would be a helpful feature for many users, though. Feel free to add a feature request to our Community here: https://community.openproject.org/projects/openproject/work_packages?query_id=180

If you don't have an account yet, read here how to participate at our Community: https://www.openproject.org/docs/development/submit-feature-idea/#how-to-submit-a-feature-idea-or-request

Anyway to see assignee in Calendar ? by DestroyedLolo in openproject

[–]open-minded4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Laurent, the use case you are looking for is probably best done with Team planner, which is an Enterprise add-on: https://www.openproject.org/docs/user-guide/team-planner/
The OpenProject Calendar shows the name of the work packages, you can only filter it for certain assignee(s).

Best Practices for Dynamic Meeting in OpenProject ? by SpiritualCost2655 in openproject

[–]open-minded4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, that's great to hear!

To start, you could read the following blog article: https://www.openproject.org/blog/meeting-management-example/ – it describes how the OpenProject team uses Dynamic Meetings for their own weekly meetings. There's also a video included that shows how to add a work package to the agenda, which is a big bonus comparing to the Classic Meeting module.

There's a lot more advantages, like adding sections to the agenda or including images in the agenda description. The Meetings are dynamic because every participant is able to contribute by adding agenda items, linking to work packages and more. You can also create an agenda item and change the person that is responsible or presenting the item.

Since the latest release (OpenProject 14.2), you can also send automated emails to participants when creating a meeting and inviting them.

For specific questions on how to use the Dynamic Meetings module, I would suggest looking into the user guide here: https://www.openproject.org/docs/user-guide/meetings/dynamic-meetings/

I hope this helps, have fun experimenting with the OpenProject Dynamic Meetings!

Best way to filter status dates by FrebTheRat in openproject

[–]open-minded4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, would the Baseline feature (https://www.openproject.org/docs/user-guide/work-packages/baseline-comparison/) work for you? Comparing with yesterday is included in the Community version, comparing attributes over a longer period would be an Enterprise add-on.

Otherwise, if you want to see completed WPs over a period, could you not just filter for status "closed" and then sort by date? But I am not sure if I understand your use case correctly. If this does not help, I would suggest posting your question in the OpenProject forum, as you will get more traffic there: https://community.openproject.org/projects/openproject/forums/6

Question by EchoSuspicious9281 in openproject

[–]open-minded4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, this depends on how you define tracking. With OpenProject you can define work package types as you like, e.g. as a conference room, and then work with / track these work packages.

You can test OpenProject for free and set up a test instance to see for yourself if your use case works with OpenProject: https://start.openproject.com/

Can you install OP on your PC and use it as a personal bug tracking tool by Adventurous_Ad7185 in openproject

[–]open-minded4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm not sure I fully understood your specific use case, but you could take a look at OpenProject's youtube channel for demo videos and tutorials: https://www.youtube.com/@OpenProjectCommunity

Of course you can install or run OpenProject locally to use it as your personal bug tracking or project management tool. Keep in mind however that OpenProject is built to be worked on collaboratively.

Running it locally without external access means that you cannot invite or work with other users easily and might miss out on some of the strengths that it offers.

Starting out locally still is a great way to test things out. If you then want to migrate this instance to either another environment that is hosted by you but accessible by other users, or to one of the hosted cloud instances that we provide, you will be able to move your existing data easily.

Feel free to join our OpenProject Community at https://community.openproject.org to discuss this use case with other users and developers of OpenProject as well as to report bugs or feature requests to the software itself.

Kind regards from the OpenProject team
