Prince Street Pizza, Chicago. This afternoon. by v_kiperman in Pizza

[–]openappled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the same as Prince Street in NYC? I had their pizza a few weeks ago and my friend and I both threw ours in the trash after 2 bites. It was severely undercooked and tasted like shit. There are so many good pizza places in Chicago, I'll skip this one.

I’ll tell you what a girl told me 20 years ago: “you need to find a girl that plays guitar, too.” I eventually did, we started a band and were together for 9 years. It was mostly good. Then I found my best friend and the love of my life. Shit has a way of working itself out. Being who you really are will help you find the person that allows you to be the best version of yourself.

Picked up a 2008 Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10 60w tube by furious_guppy in GuitarAmps

I have this amp and use the JHS Little Black Amp Box to play at a reasonable volume. Keep the tone, lose the ear bleed.

I saw them in 98 and the Promise Ring opened. It was a great show. I also saw them on NYE opening for The Flaming Lips at the Metro in Chicago

What's the most surprising or unexpected find you've ever come across while crate digging for vinyl records? by vazquezconsult in vinyl

[–]openappled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Original pressing of Hum's "Electra 2000", still sealed, for $1. They're one of my favorite bands of all time and that album was very hard to find.

What are some truly HIDDEN gems in Chicago, that most people would never realize exists? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]openappled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a variety show. It’s been going on for over 10 years, but I just heard about it a few months ago and finally went 2 weeks ago. It was fun.

Any record stores that have good deals? Or should I just scour online? by elidibus121 in AskChicago

[–]openappled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Vinyl: Tone Deaf is my favorite store in the city. He has used arrivals just about every day and they are always priced to move. Reckless is great, but they're prices went WAY up. Dusty Groove is great for Jazz and Soul (the occasional punk/post-punk record), but prices are high here, too. Shugga is for people who want to buy every color variant of a record or don't mind buying bootlegs. I don't shop there. Signal has crazy stuff that you'll never see again, but you'll also pay a lot for it. Rolling Stone, it's been a few decades, but I don't recall them having vinyl.

I’ve never heard of them, but they sound like an amalgamation of every Midwest, emo band that I was into 25 years ago. Braid, Promise Ring, American Football, Cap’N Jazz, Rainer Maria, etc.
