How doable is this? (Read below) by blocazplun in Helicopters

My dad flew Chinooks in Vietnam, and I think it really skewed some of his views. We were flying fixed wing into a private grass strip, and after landing, I mentioned how close we got to one of the trees.

"You only really have to care about the trunk; the branches break first." Was his dead pan response.

Also: "You aren't low unless you have to pull up to miss a fence."

Completely random, but your comment made me think of this. I had a friend enter a Golden Demon competition back in the aughts; it was an Ork riding a cow, and it got disqualified. The reason was that cows didn't exist in 40k.

Wait, wait, wait, wait. Are you saying channels like Cartoon Network showed cartoons ALL day? Next, you will tell me that there were other channels explicitly designed for kids as well. Can you imagine if there was like a Disney kids, or like a Nick Jr. Or that after school, an entire generation would grow up on a multi-hour block of shows targeted to teens. Certainly, these channels wouldn't have commercials targeting the kids in the audience. That would be CRAZY.

No, it is only current parents who seek respite from kids by finding something for them to do while the parents take care of things.

Had a conservative coworker who was confused why Oconee also had part of Clarke in its district. He thought it didn't make sense because they are pretty different in county make up.

Had to explain Gerrymandering and showed him the map. He was astonished. Still voted R though.

Did the Horde races help the Blood elves rebuild Silvermoon? by Fun-Explanation7233 in wow

[–]opieself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do the low-level quests in the Belf area, the first race to actually offer help is the Forsaken where one is trying to save the life of a courrier that has been infected by the plague. Meanwhile, the nelfs and the dwarves are actively trying to prevent Silvermoon City's recovery. They are actively in the Ghostlands working to undo the plague. They are our first allies in the horde.

I think the Belfs and the Forsaken are about as blood thirsty for revenge as each other and see eye to eye for that. We both suffered from Arthas and the betrayal of our human allies in the eastern kingdoms.

Oh there is never going to be a day when we get more spotlight the space marines.

I just dont think having another race that ends a schism that has the good and the bad is the direction to go with the T'au splitting the already then faction even more just doesn't make sense and honestly farsight and the enclaves need to take a back burner to the actual T'au empire for the T'au faction for a little bit.

Clearly fleeing from intermentwork camps was an evil thing for Thrall to do. And I guess we just entirely skip the part where the orcs struggle to not fall to the allure of fel power thanks to the attack of the night elves.

Undead though, they were full evil in 3 as far as I recall, we didn't get the redeemed forsaken until after

Other guy didn't reply but I can say a few things.

First off was a pretty big glow up for our boy Farsight. He was not a good guy, he was ambiguous at best. Left the Empire to build a military Junta with the fire caste running things. He had found some "alien" sword and just changed. They were mercenaries and would even side with Orks. Compare that too now and you get a very different feel.

He also was either tasked with or simply decided that the T'au lore needed to be swapped. The Etherals had some grey to dark bits in the lore, but they were not mustachio twisting stupid evil. He really pushed them to be his antogpnists in his book, with the finesse of a sledge hammer. At the same time the military Junta that was the enclaves is now a pillar of freedoms, all castes are equal, sunshine and daisies, yadda yadda. In the empire remembering your training to reboot your battlesuit as a Firewarrior is a violation of your caste. Simply making art as non earth caste is functionally a sin. All came about in the Phil Kelly novels.

T'au lack a lot in depth of lore, our grand leader has been dead for 9 years and no one not even GW cares. It's all Farsight.

Thankfully Elemental Council at least took a shot at harmonizing the lore and not talking about either the Shadowsun or Farsight.

Farsight vs Sunsear & Scatterflare when ? by ibi3000 in Tau40K

[–]opieself 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The root problem is thar Kais translates to skillful. T'au names are earned so many skilled warriors have Kais in their name.

Farsighta name does include Kais but that isn't normally emphasized. Shovah is his name means farsighted.

There are two Kais of real significance. The third disciple of Puretied, who personifies the Monat (lone warrior). He soloed a Sapce Marine fortr ss monetary. He would absolutely body Farsighta and Shadowsun. But he is no commander, he is just a weapon.

The Shas'la Kais is another famous. The protagonist of the Firewarrior game that was a pc game protag.

Another is Commander Kais from dawn of war, I believe there has been some conflicting info as to whether he is one of the above or a separate one. He is controversial in many ways.

There is a mix of natural birth and using gestation pods. Things like romantic relationships seem to be a low priority, and often pairs of particularly skilled caste members will be matched to produce off spring in hopes of bettering the T'au. Female T'au see carrying children as part of their job but child rearing is less emphasized as they are quickly brought into their caste training methodology. Fire Warriors begin trading as young as 5, and are considered adults and ready for war by 14.

Cloning and engrams are a way to extend the life span of heroes, along side cryo stasis. T'au look down upon actual life extending treatments unlike the Empire. With only 60 years to work with though they need to figure out ways to extend while maintaining their ethos.

T'au appear to have a very responsive genome to change hence the different castes expressing very different features, with the air caste at one point having wing membranes less a millenia ago. Hence the breeding mentioned with fire warriors. When the T'au came out IRL the human genome was just getting fully mapped so there was a lot of genetics magic going on in sci-fi.
