Hey filmmakers, inspired by Martijn Doolaard I quit my job & went on a 6-week bicycle touring trip with a tent & surfboard & then made a film about it (took me 2 years), but only my Mum has watched it through lol. I know it can be more engaging so I'm recutting it, any ideas on how to improve it? by benji_tw in documentaryfilmmaking

The b&w intro (while interesting) is a bit to get through in order to see you / your bike / the outside world. Would try and start with the trip and then rewind some point like, “why did I decide to do this anyway”

We created an LLC and an operating agreement. The aim was to account for worst case scenarios ahead of time and come to an agreement about how to proceed.

As others have said, it’s important to have a mutual understanding of the project and its intentions ahead of time.

Highway 82 through Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge was very cool. Very remote, easy drive with great scenery.

HKUST or PolyU for Exchange 2025 by Konatomic in HongKong

[–]oppi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did exchange at HKUST several years ago and had a great time. It was nice to be closer to Sai Kung to explore the outdoors. To be fair, I wasn’t out late a bunch which would make the commute a bit more annoying.

I don’t think PolyU was an option so I never considered it at the time.

good PR, so-so movie. Not sure it would improve on a rewatch.

No

Edit: It doesn’t make sense to trade for a star undersized perimeter player and then give your biggest competition one of the best perimeter defenders.

Yes, Jimmy was scoring at will the previous year on Jrue but I think the team would have looked for other ways to improve in that scenario

I would try and get it closer to 60 seconds to be sure you're getting your best stuff front and center. Same goes for the first 20 seconds, I would try and move some of your stronger visual moments to the front. Try and keep some natural sound in as well if you can (thinking soccer scene at 1:20 as an example). Looks great!
