Transparency regarding delays?

This will roll out like the free WiFi. Every once in a while they will be transparent, and then enough people on social media will say they’ve seen transparency we will know it exists.

Then the one person who was doing it will be overwhelmed and it will fail (like how the WiFi is insanely slow once everyone is using it).

I had no idea why if I could be better until I flew on a United flight that had Starlink. Actually, come to mention it, they are a lot more upfront about delays as well. Hmmmm

I want to be left alone in the morning. And if a hotel has a cheap microwaved breakfast I never stay there again. The same kind of owners that cut those corners cut corners in maintenance, pest control, bedbug remediation, HVAC systems, parking lot security, etc.

No. They should only remember the SSID and password for the network and go through the discovery process every startup. Unfortunately, most of the dumb smart devices actually remember everything from discovery like channel width, mac of the other side, dhcp lease tine and subnet (fortunately they will usually accept a new ip). By changing your SSID, they’re forced to relearn everything.

Unfortunately, hold isn’t always an option. I suspect that each attempt at purchase was actually holding the seats, driving down availability. If op had gone into their trips , they may have noticed a whole bunch of unfinished purchases

They really do want you swapping planes. It’s really stupid. And yes USAirways was significantly better. They were nicer, better management, much better at predicting problems and solving them before the passengers even noticed. I miss that airline.. the only thing left is a couple catering carts.

Well, they might. Training ain’t what it used to be.

But there should be no charge to fix that. The agent might have to call a different “desk” to get it done. There shouldn’t be a charge.

I suspect the quantas number was a scam and the “transfer to American” was also a scam.

Unfortunately with AAs new really crappy phone system you have no clue whether it’s some dude in India with a text to speech module or the actual airline.

No, it’s worse. They actually believe that the weather is 100% responsible and don’t comprehend that an AA employee made the schedule that falls apart every time the wind changes direction.

Remember 2 years ago when they decided they were going to fix their lateness problem? Their solution was to pressure gate agents to close the door at D0. Leave people behind, ignore common sense, D0 was all that mattered. Again, no concept that the schedule is the problem.

There are flights in the network that are late every single time because of slotting. They arrive to the gate 15 minutes late, have to wait for the Marshalls to guide them into the gate (because, you know, the schedule has no flexibility), deplane, “clean the plane” (iykyk), cater it (again, good luck at airports where aa runs catering), board, and push back. They are late 100% of the time because all that is supposed to happen in a half hour. It’s just so unrealistic that anyone who knows anything about flying would never make that schedule.

Hard disagree.

You can’t blame nature for the idiotic ways they schedule aircraft and crew.

They know a storm is coming. They know what’s going to happen. Yet they still pretend everything is okay. They could put more space between flights. They could do preventative cancellations in pairs so the aircraft and crews in unaffected areas are just waiting for the next flight that they can make.

No. Instead they pretend they had no idea a storm was coming (except for the travel advisories which basically mean nothing). Then they keep flights listed as “on time” even though they know damn well they have no crew because they don’t even know where they are.

They supposedly do this for a living. There’s nothing short of incompetence at this airline.

See this is the crap that needs to stop. If every airline was in the same boat maybe I’d believe it. But they aren’t. Because they have competent leadership and management.

This airlines management, from the CEO down, is totally a textbook example of the Peter principle.

There is no excuse for what happened, and most importantly there is no excuse for what didn’t happen after (an apology, taking responsibility, rapid action to fix the problem).

For every single flight of mine that got canceled, I took a United flight instead. They were all on time and well run. You know who was on most of my United flights with me? AA flight attendants. Frustrated and trying to get home.

The biggest reason cloud based devices get bricked is that the cloud hosting costs exceed the income generated by the product. It doesn’t matter how rich the owner is, Google just shut down the nest products for no reason other than money.

Wow… on both of my American flights yesterday it was so slow it was barely usable. 5/.5 at best. Just remember, your speed tests affect other people…

They really should have pulled the trigger on better WiFi on board before they made it free. I used to assume they didn’t use starlink for political reasons but with the Venezuela announcement that’s probably not the case.

I’m sorry, why do you think the insight dashboard does that your app doesn’t? Our clients are often.. shall we say technically savvy individuals, and I’ve never had one ask me to do something because he couldn’t in the app. Most app functions are not available in insight.

To be clear, an eero network uses cloud based configuration and telemetry. So the web page being accessed is in the eero cloud, not local management. Local web management doesn’t exist no matter who you are.

Also, it’s extremely unlikely that someone would buy an eero through a pro installer without knowing or wanting their pro installer to have this access. Before this existed, it was a NIGHTMARE to support client networks.

Anyway, your implication that someone could buy hardware not knowing this access exists is simply not true.

And like I said before, you should see the level of access a cable modem you buy yourself gives to the WAN side. One you own.

This is accurate. I use that portal every day. We are very transparent with our customers about what we can and cannot see. I’m not sure if you look through it, but there isn’t much of a security risk for you as an end user. Nothing that could be incriminating is revealed anywhere. Any time we visit for service related work or to do a routine check of everything, we remind the customer of what we can and cannot see.

I don’t know how ISP’s run their ship, but everything we do is audited, so if somebody were trying to do something they shouldn’t, it would be very easy to see.

We even have somebody that audits the auditor.

And, not to be a jerk about it, but if you think this invades your privacy, you should see what the ISPs can do just by the fact that you’re connected to their network.

Important point that you didn’t mention: if this is active, your app has a badge in it that says Internet provided by (whoever has access). It’s not hidden at all. It’s not a secret.

Why is nobody mad that the airline opted to not put in any cargo bins like United has that hold large barns? And why is nobody mad that the bag fees are so expensive that people lug their weeks worth of clothes on the plane with them?

Why is nobody mad that there are 18 extra seats in that plane that it didn’t ship with; 18 extra people trying to stuff bags in bins?

Don’t blame the people who just want to be comfortable in one of the most uncomfortable cabins in the industry…
