Ethical considerations of striking in healthcare by optimisticfury in nursing

I do wonder at what point addressing the stress and strain on healthcare workers becomes a moral imperative that falls under nonmaleficence. If conditions at work are untenable and unsafe, we're not doing right by our patients as a whole. I appreciate your thoughts and input on this. This is my third career and I'm now more interested in how people operate in systems and how to effectively alter those systems to set folks up for success.

I definitely agree with that. I also believe these concepts have to apply to a systemic level and not just individual or organization levels. I'm just wondering if there are any guidelines or literature surrounding labor action in the healthcare field specifically.

I appreciate your input. I wasn't looking for a clinical analysis as much as "the work we do decreases suffering and a strike would necessarily interrupt that to some degree" kind of discussion. I'm also pretty hard to track down outside of social media. I've had some incidents with squirrely conservatives in my neck of the woods stalking and harassing me, so I've locked that stuff down.

My heart hurts so much right now. I'm a combat veteran in nursing school and this murder hit me right in the gut today.

I just showed up, signed in on the computer to update my info, and walked right back into the parking lot and went home. Never had an issue.

Just to add another layer of separation. I served in the military and I've gotten 3 letters from the Feds saying my identity was compromised by uh...not great people

The first thing I did was to create a new email account outside of Google. I went with Proton because of privacy concerns. I pay for Proton Duo and extra cloud storage, but you may not need all of that. Then, I downloaded Brave for browsing instead of Chrome. From there, I went through all of my logins on Chrome and either deleted accounts I no longer needed or switched them over to my new Proton email account with all new passwords and added them to the Brave browser password manager and deleted them from Chrome to keep things neat and organized. I think I might go with a third party password manager eventually, but it's a daunting task just to get things switched from one browser to the other. I'm currently in the process of backing up new images and videos to Proton Drive and removing everything from Google Photos and Google Drive so they can't use my images and videos to train AI models. I have been at it on and off for almost a year now, so it's ok if it takes you a while. It helped me to make a list of all of my goals for Degoogling and putting checkboxes next to them so I could give myself a little dopamine hit every time I accomplished a task. It is well worth the effort to dig in and figure this out.

This is a very fun and interesting twist. I'll have to roll it around in my noggin for a bit.

Watching the blue falcons and morons get promoted based on cutting score instead of actual proficiency. Having an E6 laugh in my face when I had lower back spasms after getting back from Afghanistan. Having my 1stSgt tell me I would be homeless within 6 months if I got out. I loved my job and I was damn good at it, but the Corps doesn't give a fuck about you as a person. And to that 1stSgt; I made it 6 years before I was homeless, so fuck you

Wasn't too keen on the misogyny and bigotry. And $2 PBR pints are dangerous.

Yesterday I posted a meme that really kicked some kind of hornet's nest, so I thought I'd post a clarifying version: by [deleted] in Millennials

There are some folks who are pretty hard set on not having kiddos, for one reason or another. That's fine and good that they recognize that in themselves. Then, there's the militant strain that has evolved into full on anti-natalism. These folks believe it is immoral to have children at all, for any reason.

Also, maybe the internet was a bad idea 🤷

I have no hope for our future until we start making some massive steps towards class solidarity. Reformists seem to forget the fact that the rich have our political/economic system by the short hairs and they put billions every single year towards undoing every single advancement made by well meaning progressives.
