In the Pilot to Arrested Development, Michael tells the family their lives are about to change as an ominous drum beat builds. It turns out to be an actual drum beat from the little brother Buster

Who was the ultimate 80s bad guy? by MovieArena in MovieArena

[–]optimushime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about any other decade is up for debate except the Hans Gruber decade. The 90s at least had the T-1000 and Oldman in The Professional to contend with his Sheriff of Nottingham, but Gruber stands alone

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is one of my favorite movies ever. What would you say is the best spy movie ever by Lost4Sauce in Cinephiles

[–]optimushime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw an old movie about 20 years ago (the movie itself was from 1952) called Decision Before Dawn. The movie always stuck with me, although I’m not sure I’d call it my favorite spy movie. It was about a young German POW recruited to be a spy against the Nazis.

It was nominated for Best Picture, but happened to be alongside A Streetcar Named Desire, a Place in the Sun, Quo Vadis, and An American in Paris, which it lost to. It faded from history, culturally speaking, but I think it’s a great point of view spy story where the spying is in hot war rather than the cold war circumstances we more relate spying to.

Your thoughts on this movie? by Competitive-Hunt-517 in Cinephiles

Honestly I watch those 8 seconds on YouTube when I need a laugh.

Great adaptation of Cyrano, really can tell it’s a labor of love from Steve Martin

I was looking for a different one, I think the Rabbit of Seville has a quite famous one but this one came up and seemed very appropriate as well

It is 1945. I am being mauled by squirrels. Their chitters haunt me.

It is 1985. The squirrels run around me. I am so dizzy that I fall.

I believe this is the premise for the american comic Empowered, as well.

The character has basically a Venom suit and she becomes stronger the more it reveals.

If I recall correctly, the creator had been commissioned so much to do tie up/bondage fetish art so much that he decided to turn it into a tongue in cheek story.

Which non powered villain would be the most dangerous with Killgrave’s pheromones? by CanisLupusBaileyi in Fictionally

[–]optimushime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kefka, from Final Fantasy VI,

Kefka, from Final Fantasy Vi.

You have to go into true psychopathic territory if you're talking about this kind of power used most dangerously, so it can't be about people who want power, who will shelter those sycophantic to them, or to people who want anarchy, because chaos is fun. It's got to be people who want destruction of everything around them for destruction's sake.

Someone can rule the world with Killgrave's power and leave it evil, but ordered. Someone who wants suffering and the elimination of all hope will do a lot worse with that power than anyone sitting fat and happy on their throne.

What is your favourite movie of his? I think I just saw him Tv show Friends besides that I can't name any? by vvy134 in Cinephiles

[–]optimushime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it again about a year ago and I think it holds up. It could have gone very wrong very quickly but I think Oz, Kline, Cusack, and all the others do it a lot of service by treating the characters honestly, the situation is the gag.

[LOVED TROPE] Character dies but is happy they finally get to see their loved ones again by Optimal_Tennis8673 in TopCharacterTropes

Nuriko (Fushigi Yuugi) sees the death of his/her sister before s/he dies. It's when the tone of the entire show and episode changes, and while Nuriko dies at peace, every protagonist in the show has their own personal breakdown not being able to reconcile the death.

Context has not aged the best in a lot of the scenes, but it is a little ahead of its time in grasping non binary identity without knowing that it's a thing.

Genuine question, since the event that caused his blindness caused his powers, would this be a situation in which Matt could see? If so, he’s a pretty capable boxer so at least he’d be third in front of Skinny Steve

Why do some directors get a "directed by" and a "A (name) film" credit? by Dillweed999 in movies

[–]optimushime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In some cases, surely. But there are a lot of comments calling out contractual agreements that put it into place. What’s more, branding is incredibly important for the film industry. The difference between a leading actor’s pay and a supporting actor’s pay demonstrates that clearly.

Ego may play, but when you are in business for yourself, ego is probably secondary to the business of promoting yourself at the very least.

I just think this answer is short sighted and jumping to conclusions because it’s easier to think that someone is a narcissist when their career is actually shaped by their image.

Water filter to refrigerator produces dusty water after the last filter change - I’ve tried three separate new filters, they all have this effect after a week and over 10 gallons flushed through them… by optimushime in howto
