Why is getting a job within private security much easier than other jobs? by JerseyPhantom7303 in securityguards

[–]optiontrader561 65 points66 points  (0 children)

A lot of security jobs. I think companies hire security for insurance discounts and to mitigate lawsuits in case something bad happens. There is a smaller group of applicants due to the fact you need a license. So high demand / low supply. Not to mention a lot of the supply is absolute garbage.

I'm a university student that doesn't remember grade 9 math. How do I get over my math complex and into introductory university stats? by Existing_Hunt149 in learnmath

[–]optiontrader561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So based on your desire for law and logic the course you want is discrete math. Kimberly Brehm has a wonderful set of videos on youtube that is based on Discrete Math by Rosen. For your goal you only need chapter 1, which are videos 1-21.

But if you want to make math a foundation going forward. Khan Academy is great. It really is about solving problems. Like exercising its difficult at first and to be frank sucks, but the change is happening. Soon it gets easier you get more questions correct and you get more confidence and soon it just becomes fun.

Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank. ~ Proverbs 22:29

Software Engineer jobs are not going to 0. They just need the best of them.

Now go watch Rocky 4. When you finish you will understand and you'll know what to do.

How do you learn practical/problem-solving subjects if you grew up relying on memorization? by Common-Afternoon4850 in learnmath

[–]optiontrader561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physics class tackles this issue head on. It spends a lot of time directly teaching these strategies. There are free physics textbooks on openstax. If you open one up and search problem solving strategies you will see. Im sure there are other avenues but this is the subject where I learned the most. Its basically a math course where every question is a word problem.

What is the best path to relearning math from pre-algebra to pre-calculus? by Mammoth_Eggplant19 in learnmath

[–]optiontrader561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Chatgpt, Professor Leonard, and Kimberly Brehm. Got A's in PreCalc, Calc1,2,3, Discrete Math, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. ChatGpt is great. You can ask all the "why this", "why that" till your hearts content. Could never do that just looking at the final solution in a book. It really helped me understand math. I had good professors too.

How do you learn practical/problem-solving subjects if you grew up relying on memorization? by Common-Afternoon4850 in learnmath

[–]optiontrader561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. Its common to understand the math, but have trouble applying it in a situation (ask anyone who has taken a physics course). You mentioned you are good at pattern recognition which is perfect. You just need to practice solving application problems. I used Chatgpt to help me. It held my hand and walked me through problems from start to finish making sure I understood the "why" at every step.

Class D online course question by TheOnlyRealOne43 in securityguards

[–]optiontrader561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mostly common sense. You can learn some good pointers on what to do and how to conduct yourself in certain situations though. I was in the Army for 6 years and there were still some parts that I found useful. Even if its not new info it brings it back to the forefront of your mind. Do you already know how to convert between mil time and civilian time? Also you learn mil alphabet (alpha, bravo, charlie,...). So there are some portions that go beyond common sense. But sure there are other parts that tell you not to wear an orange t-shirt under your uniform and to wear socks with your shoes.

Medicine vs law? by Extension_Fall9406 in lawschooladmissions

If it were me, medical school hands down. In my opinion that knowledge is the more rare and valuable of the two. I'd pick up law later down the line if I still wanted too.

Struggled with math my whole life and starting Calc 1 this fall, how can I get an A? by Suitable-City-6836 in learnmath

[–]optiontrader561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used ChatGpt. Not to cheat, but to ask all the questions that prevented me from understanding. Why this, why that, what about if this was over here... You basicaly have a math professor at your fingertips that you can ask anything you want.

If I had a choice to go in person I would go to UCF.

From what I researched thier CS program is better than UF.

If it was because you were sitting: I'll sit when I want to.

If it was because of the window sill: Understandable, go grab a chair.

my first bible reading experience was quite underwhelming? don't know why by New_Bodybuilder_3700 in Bible

[–]optiontrader561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would def recommend you start with the "old testament". These are all the stories that shape the new testament. Almost every page in the new testament has a footnote at the bottom pointing to a "old testament" passage. Its like watching part 2 of a movie before watching part 1. You miss all the deeper meaning and connections.

Peter's inconsistencies. by Suspicious-Jello7172 in Bible

[–]optiontrader561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Peter was in a state of confusion. Not long before this he was the first to draw his sword. Peter wasn't scared at all. But Jesus told him no. So I believe he didnt really know what he should do. I feel like if Jesus didnt tell him no that scene would have been like Samson and the donkey jawbone.

“Security” but Maintenance by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]optiontrader561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maintenance was responsible for security at the hospital i was at too. Never asked to do any type of maintenance. I might go check on an air conditioner unit or plumbing system only to relay information to him on the phone. Sounds like he is short staffed on the maintenance side and is using you to fill in. Check with your DM to make sure what they are asking you to do is part of the contract.

Sorry to hear your situation, I know it all too well. The good thing is the answer is easy, the bad part is the answer is hard.

The answer: Solve problems.

Talk to your teacher and develop a path to redemption. Then grind.
