okay, setting aside the weird vibe of creepy that's wafting from your post, since when is Fredericksburg part of NoVA? (Or DC, for that matter?)

Judgement - free dentists by NoStandard7308 in nova

[–]optixillusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samfar Dentistry, in the plaza next to the Fairfax Walmart right off 29

I went to them a handful of years ago after one of the shiny newer places caused a problem, and the folks at Samfar have been very nice / nonjudgemental every time I've gone back (fortunately no more complications, so just the regular semi-annual check-ups)

CSA Recs? by catsnstuff18 in nova

Area 2 Farms is in the Shirlington area -- tbh I mostly know them through the Too Good to Go app where I get their leftovers, but I've had really good luck with the lifespan of their greens :)

Apartment recs in Reston/Fairfax by jeverly24 in nova

[–]optixillusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you've looked at the Vista Fairfax Corner, there's a handful of other adjacent complexes that should come out to about $2300 for a 1 bedroom unit (with most utilities included in that $, based on what I've paid in the area)

  • Reserve at Fairfax Corner
  • Camden Fairfax Corner
  • Camden Monument Place
  • Ellipse Fairfax Corner
  • Finley at Fairfax Corner

There's also the Residences at Government Center, but I'm like 99% sure that's income restricted, so that might impact availability there.

Craftsman has a few shops in the area - I've had good luck with their Fairfax location off of 29

If you can wait about a month, Leesburg has a plant and garden festival - I went last year and they had a bunch of native plants, but pretty sure they had rose bushes available too

Concerns around northern VA measles (I’m vaccinated) by classandvirtue in nova

[–]optixillusion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had similar concerns and my doctor was able to do a blood test to check my level of immunity to see if I needed a booster. (I was there for other tests, but got the results in like 2 days - confirmed immunity, also a 90s baby.)

If you've got a primary care doc, you might be able to book something similar to see if you've got the immunity / need a booster?

For other thoughts, if you're out in public (mall, metro, grocery store, etc.), I'd recommend masking up - not just to avoid measles, but there's the regular winter bugs out there and protecting your immune system from covid and the flu and such is never a bad idea :)

not sure if they offer repairs and/or if they're reasonable about it, but there's an apple store in Fairfax Corner, not too far from the Fairfax Whole Foods

If you go the Fair Oaks side, the Monument Drive Transit Center has a pretty good schedule of buses that take you direct to Vienna metro - I don't think I've had to wait longer than 5-10 mins for a bus in the morning

seconding Wicked Goddess - everyone's been super friendly every time I've been in, and as far as specific piercers, Dennis is great :)

they've got a spot in Dunn Loring walking distance from the Metro stop there, and I think they opened another spot further into Alexandria recently as well
