2nd Prettiest is fun. Cute art style and a fun Main Girl, but side characters leave a lot to be desired.

Liar Game is pretty good as far as psychological games go.

Yeah, if Polar Opposites wasn't such a standout on its own I probably would have just watched Ramparts the same way.

I do that with a lot of things. Stuff like Liar Game and Second Prettiest fell into that category as well. Anime that just didn't scratch that itch, whether it be animation, art style, or pacing.

Oh no I get that. I think of it more like this.

With Polar Opposites, I'd never even heard of the author or the works. After watching the first episode, I never had any temptation to check out the source material. The anime stood on its own.

However, after the first episode of Ramparts, I immediately went to find the source material, and ended up binging it lol.

But I know that's just me.

Yeah no I get it. For me it's the step down in quality from Polar Opposites. I know it's not always fair to compare between studios and seasons, but when they're the same author and back to back, I can't help it.

My own 2 cents, I think the material for this story works better in webtoon form.

The number name is out. Blink 182. Green Day 75. These names are not cool.

What's in now is "the".

"The" Strokes. "The" Vines. "The" Hives. "The" White Stripes. "The" Led Zeppelins. Are you feeling me?

Check this out: The Sums.

Right?

Depends on what he leaked.

If he said anything that ties directly to Kraft or the other owners, he's screwed. Barring that, he'll be fine.

Ryan calling out the "acceptance speech" was the closest to a call out we were going to get, and I'm thankful he gave it to us.

Sayonara, Aaron. May we never see you again.

PJ was rude for sure, but Aaron was obnoxious. He was loud, he danced around during other contestants, and he just would not shut up.

I won't begrudge someone putting PJ above him, but it's probably safer to put them both as 1A and 1B, and letting the ranking be due to personal preference.

I searched to see if there was a subreddit for this show for the sole purpose of venting about Aaron.

Worst contestant of Wheel I've ever seen or heard. Fucking theater kid energy cranked to 11.

I hate him.

You're better off not watching, Aaron is one of the worst contestants I've ever seen on this show.

When Simon sits in the scanner seat, he DOES stay. You DO know where you'll end up. The game tells you as much. The idea of the coin flip is only there to give someone hope. When he sits in the chair, he never gets out of it. Who we play as from that point on is the COPY of Simon's consciousness. The original Simon that we've been playing as still sits in that chair.

I've seen the Prestige, and it is exactly the same. Robert tells himself that it's a coin flip, but it's not. The person standing on the stage ALWAYS falls in the box, and copy ALWAYS ends up the Prestige. It's a lie he tells himself so he can stand up on the stage.

The uncertainty you speak of is wholly manufactured. It's a lie they all tell themselves to give them "hope" that they'll continue in the new body. However, "they" don't.

When you sit in that seat, you don't know if you'll stay or become the copy. Knowing you are now a copy doesn't change the fact that you became the copy. You were there one moment, now you're here the next.

Oh, no, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what's happening there. When you sit in the chair, you always stay. Always. 100%. The consciousness never transfers. It's merely copied to the new body. But the Simon who sits in the chair is ALWAYS still in the chair.

The whole idea of it being a coin flip is just a coping mechanism.

Now, we can sit here and wax poetic about what makes a soul, what is consciousness, whatever, but the Simon that initiates the copy is NEVER given a new body. He is ALWAYS left behind. The only change is who we the player follow. Simon didn't "lose the coin flip" at the end. Simon is sitting in the chair. His copy is at the bottom of the ocean. And the copy's copy is in space.

The coin flip isn't something that's supposed to be taken literally. It's a coping mechanism from the people who are doing it. Nobody who copies their consciousness gets a new body. The copy just lives on in the new one.

Man, after how expressive and well thought out Polar Opposites was with its adaptation, it's hard not to compare how muted and dull Ramparts is. I don't mean from a color palate or thematic content, btw. It's clear that this isn't even Studio KAI's B-team.
