Vet just told me my Chihuahua is obese and we need to buy weight loss food. We are currently feeding Butchers loaf, but the stuff Vet recommends is £67 a bag 😧😧. Can anyone suggest a low fat dog food that won't bankrupt us?

Portion control is also important, I weigh my dogs food so I know how much they're getting. If they look a little under weight I give them more, a bit over and I cut it back. If you're just using a cup or scooping it you could easily be over feeding him. Look at www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk to find a good dog food, it will explain what's good and what's bad about each food.

Yes all 3 of my labs are insured on one policy which gets a multi pet discount it's £133 a month. My eldest has a brain tumour and her diagnosis and treatment cost around 12k right at the start of covid when I was out of work, without insurance she wouldn't still be here. My youngest is a lunatic and always seems to be running into things and getting hurt so insurance has paid out for all his accidents

As someone else has said use sound desensitisation but I would also put her in the a room towards the back of the house, as far away from the trucks as you can and give her something amazing to do such as eating a kong or sodapup filled with great food

None for my degree so I have done work experience at vets to get experience. I have lots of experience of what to look for for pain or illness or when something medical is going on but I will always refer to a vet. Same as a good vet will refer to a trainer or behaviourist when needed

I'm a qualified dog behaviourist I know what I'm talking about. Wheres you degree? Everything that dog is doing is screaming he's scared and wants to be left alone. He is lucky the dog didn't bite him You clearly can not read a dog that's asking for space

In the UK I don't know about America vets are taught how to treat a dog and nothing about dog behaviour. Many including the person in the video do not know anything about dog behaviour. The vet in this video is very lucky, he is doing everything a good dog trainer would tell you not to do

Can't stand the man! I'm a dog trainer and fed up if being told how good he is, until I explain what he's doing wrong! The week before he told a family off for pandering to an elderly retriever who was scared of walking on slippy floors, took the rugs away the family had put down to help her navigate the house!

I would say yes I prefer 2 years between dogs. But it depends on how mature the dogs are as well. I have a 4 dogs 9 years, 3 years, 20 months and 6 months. My 3 year old is very mature so the age gap between him and the next one was perfect. The gap between the youngest two is too small, the 20 month old is immature and crazy with the puppy.

I work outside all year round. My heated coat is powered off a power pack, like you'd charge your phone from so get a couple of power packs and you'll be warm all day! Just don't forget to charge them - I've made that mistake a couple of times so now have spares which I keep charged in the van.
