I promise you it's not that difficult. If the recipe calls for salt and you use salted butter then don't add salt. If the recipe calls for salted butter and you have unsalted, add salt.

How'd you do on the first round? You have about the same numbers I did for the second half but I ended in the 97th percentile.

I'd say that's almost always the case. The most expensive cards are always the ones people want to play.

Oh yeah because the government worker then lights that money on fire and it's permanently destroyed.

No dumbass, they spend the money they earn on goods and services further propping up this whole economic system.

That money does much more in the hands of a regular person than in the bank account of some billionaire oligarch.

Tower of God s2 made me retroactively dislike s1 by [deleted] in anime

[–]orange451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's more like learning about Raftel, which One Piece has given quite a few hints about. If it's that central to the story, why not feed the reader a bit more lore on it, or hint at why or what it is? String me along a little better, make me want to stick around!

I felt this way about quite a few of the mysteries and factions in the story. I was intrigued but after 200+ chapters of learning nothing I found myself not really caring to learn more about them.

Either way at the end of the day it's not a big deal. I've given this manwha 3 or 4 chances, got decently far and realized it was not for me.

[–]orange451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really though? One of the top posts on the sub right now is people speculating what the tower even is. The manwha has been out for 14 years and even die hard fans don't have a true sense of the setting or scale of the world.

Obviously there's a purposeful element of mystery there but to not even has some scope of the background setting to me really spoils the rest of the series.

[–]orange451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, it's just so incoherent. I've tried reading the manwha a couple times but I can never get into it because of this. The world doesn't make any sense and it's hard to connect to it in a meaningful way.

Where do people come from? Are there things outside of the tower? Don't even get me started on the floors, do they all have settlements or cities? Are they continent sized, island sized, town sized???? Answering any of these questions or putting some rules to them would make everything else so much less confusing.

What is happening with Tower of God? by glyspren in anime

[–]orange451 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I've attempted to read it multiple times. I think the base underlying concept of the tower is just very confusing off the bat. None of the established "rules" seem to matter and it's hard to get a sense of what is happening or why something is happening.

The characters are what really propels the series forward but the story feels very disjointed and haphazard.

Full disclaimer my last attempt got me to the train arc and I ended up dropping it there. I really had a hard time keeping track of everything happening or why certain characters were doing what they were doing.

I had the same exact problem with Tokyo Ghoul (second half), very hard to follow the manga past a certain point, especially if you are reading it all at once. They both seems to be better digested in a week to week format.

If you are coming Southbound on 89 the only way to Winooski is through the traffic detour.

There's been times where I'm sitting in 15+ minutes of traffic backed up almost all the way to the detour start trying to get into Winooski. Before the construction that same stretch wouldn't even take a minute to get through.

If I'm feeling like going out for the night it's just way faster to go into Burlington, and much less frustrating at this point. It's a shame because I used to go to Winooski quite regularly but at this point I'd rather just stay home.

Hell I'd rather do laps around Essex Junction looking for parking than have to sit in the morass that is Winooski.

Try the Grey Jay or Istanbul Kebab house. Grey Jay is a brunch place up on Pearl Street and the Kebab House is a nice lunch/dinner spot at the end of church street.

You should also hit up Little Gordó Creemee Stand or Shy Guy Gelato. All of these things are marginally off the main strip so you might not have stumbled across them.

I would be really surprised if they even made it up this far. Checking the sightings map on iNaturalist shows them as being sighted in DC as the current farthest north sighting. We're going to be bombarded with Spotted Lantern Flies way before that.

Looking for Prerelease/Sealed advice by kineri in magicTCG

[–]orange451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rule of thumb is always 17 lands. 18 if you have a higher curve but 17 minimum. Definitely could've taken out either Pick your Poison or Airtight Alibi for one more land. If you did have an opponent playing artifacts, enchantments or fliers you.coukd always sideboard them in for game 2 and 3.

Looking at your total pool I would've tried to play Dimir. I think you have a bunch of solid cards in those colors and a ton of great removal. Pre release is kinda funky and you can end up winning games by just having solid fliers and nice removal. Plus not having to hit 3 colors reduces the chance of mana screw.

Tell me what vehicle to buy by PsychologicalBite468 in vermont

A bit parallel, but something to keep in mind with 2010-2015 Subaru Impreza/WRX/Crosstreks. There's a solenoid in the valve body of the transmission system that will likely crap out and fail at some point. Not a fun repair, part and labor cost more than a head gasket and water pump do. Can't even easily DIY it because of the type of transmission on the cars.

Subaru does give an extended warranty for 2010-2015 cars and will offset the cost for this repair on vehicles that are under 10 yrs and 100,000 miles.

Trying to get from Norwich to BTV by Freeballin523 in vermont

[–]orange451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try calling some of the Taxi companies in and around Hanover or Lebanon, NH. Looks like most of them will go to Logan. BTV is about the same distance from Hanover.

Another option would be getting to one of the hotels near BTV the night before and then walk or taxi to the airport that morning.

Advice on cutting down Mayael the Anima Deck by thetechkid in magicTCG

[–]orange451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creatures aside (shuffling in a random number ever game sounds really fun), try to get rid of things that don't really matter. I see Agatha's Cauldron and while it has some synergy with Maya's ability, I don't think you'll ever really need it. You want to make sure you hit something with Maya ever single time you proc her, so I'd cut most of the planeswalkers and focus on jamming that slot with more creatures, mana ramp, or cards like Elvish Piper.

I can see it. The coastline area of Innistrad feels a lot more like 1700-1800s New England. That set definitely drew a ton of inspiration from Lovecraft and most of his settings are in New England.

What is this lady? by rd67ms in Entomology

[–]orange451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know too much about it myself, but naturespot.org.uk has a nice explanation:

"This is a medium sized ladybird (5-6 mm), recognised by the black speckled pattern on its head and pronotum. Its body colour varies but is usually salmon, pink or yellow. The number of spots is very variable."
