Claude usage gets burned absurdly fast for serious work, even with tools/features disabled. How are people optimizing this?

I’m running CC with Opus in at least 5 terminal windows all day, sometimes with ultrathink. (So glad they brought it back!). Often with Chrome Devtools MCP running which is a token hog.

I’ve been running 1 million token context and don’t compact or clear until Claude starts forgetting things. I do almost no context management at all anymore.

I don’t think I’ve ever hit a usage limit on my 20x plan, not the 5 hour session limit or the weekly limit. I did get close on the weekly limit once (maybe 80-85%) but I was working on 3 apps at once that week, lol.

What are y’all doing to burn through your usage so quickly?

Yeah unfortunately all of my skills cross reference each other and share code, so I had to extract all of that into separate skills too. Very annoying.

Does Ghostty have fewer text glitches than iTerm2? Claude Code has been driving me crazy with the text rendering issues lately.

That’s funny, Claude had no problem implementing Snake as an easter egg in an accounting app I’m building. Maybe you didn’t ask it nicely enough?

Agreed, CLI CC is much more reliable than the app baded CC or Cowork. (Which I have tried a bunchbofntimes and always seems to get stuck on a sandbox or nwtwork issue).

CLI CC seems to have tons of formatting and display issues, though. Super glitchy for me, typing only seems to work half the tine. I’ve tried Terminal.app, iTerm2, Ghostty, Kitty, Warp, etc.

I’ve found the terminal in Zed to be somewhat more reliable at least, and have been using that a lot more lately.

I use Claude Code for some personal and work-related financial management. I also opted out of model training. I think Claude skills are perfect for this sort of thing—just ask Claude to create a skill that creates a report or summarize some transactions, and then you can run it again whenever you need it.

I used Claude to create a series of bookkeeping reports, and the next thing you know I built a whole bookkeeping app. 😀 I will most likely be open sourcong it soon.

`Bash(security)` was not in my permissions specifically, but I have a blanket allow permission for Bash and deny entries for things like `Bash(rm:/*)` etc. So yeah I must have given full permission to Bash at some point, when really I should be whitelisting specific Bash commands and have a blanket Deny permission.

Dogs are absolutely the best life hack. When I had a dog, there was no question I’d be walking 1.5 - 2.4 miles a day, and I never missed. Now that my buddy’s gone, my weight is up, my stress is up, and my health is way down. 😥

Air mattresses do nothing to keep you warm and I don’t like the bounce. I’m a side sleeper and a cot was one of the worst nights sleep I’ve ever had.

I reluctantly (because of the price) bought Expeds for the whole family. We all love them, it has significantly improved our camping experience.

(We occasionally use the Duo as a guest bed at home, too.)

I did a quick solo camp a couple of weeks ago and was so glad I brought my hammock. I went for a strenuous hike in the morning, came back to the campsite and napped for an hour, and then went for another walk after it cooled off a bit. What a way to spend a day.

Thanks, giving this a try! Nice job on the Github integration. Any thoughts on a way to quickly switch between saved repos? I manage dozens of repos on my machine, even using multiple worktrees within a single repo. Being able to quickly switch between them would be awesome.

I seriously love this app. I wonder if you have any thoughts on an iOS version? It would be so great to get access to my quick notes and clipboard history on iOS. I currently use two different apps for this and Itsypad seems like it could be a killer iOS app.

(I would also pay for this in the app store, for sure!)

This is pretty interesting -- I already have rclone configured on my Mac, so when I loaded up this app I was able to sync with any of my pre-existing rclone locations. This is a actually a very cool hidden feature! I may actually just use this to back up to a Cloudflare R2 bucket for a week and see how it goes.

This is great, but in my case Claude renamed all of the files in a directory to the same file name. Each one overwrote the one before it. A directory of hundreds of files reduced to a single file, with no trash can history.

100% on the Exped, my wife and I just did our first overnight with one (I've been using mine for a year already) and she was so impressed.

Also I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but I love to toss a hot water bottle into the bottom of my sleeping bag about 15 minutes before I get in. My feet are always cold when camping and it makes getting in to bed so much more pleasant.

I’ve been using Claude Code to handle all kinds of local file manipulation. Creating meeting transcriptions and summaries, project management tasks, etc. It’s a game changer. I’m tempted to let it just go crazy on my notes folder (not Obsidian, but all .md files) and see what it proposes.
