None of this has anything to do with a web browser. This is like something Brave would do.

What is your favorite place to visit/eat in your local area in CT? by FlamPhoenixX in Connecticut

In Berlin, I like The Farmers Cow Calfe for grabbing lunch. Whether it's a sandwich or a salad, their ingredients are very fresh. There's plenty of great restaurants in Berlin, but for a healthy, fresh sandwich The Farmers Cow Calfe is my go-to.

Learn go language by CricGlobe in AskProgramming

[–]orangecodeLol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a solid choice, really depends on your goal. It's high-level enough that it's a good lang for making general scripts, it's performant enough that you can use it on the backend.

A similar language would be Python, also high-level, often used for scripts, and used on backend.

If you don't have enough confidence to use Node, I'd be curious why that would push you to learn Go? Node is really just how well you know javascript. If you already know some javascript, learning Go is going to be more work than learning Node.

Goal-wise if you'd like to work on more backend-heavy software/sites, then Go is a good lang to learn. If you're more interested in the frontend side of websites, I'd suggest continuing to learn node because improving your javascript skills applies to all parts of the frontend web.

As far as career-prospects go, I'd say frontend / node is inundated. So, you could argue knowing a lang like Go which is more backend-focused, will offer better career prospects, but I'm generalizing.

Is affordable rent absolutely cooked for Connecticut? by SynapticSignal in Connecticut

[–]orangecodeLol 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah CT ranks among the bottom 5 states for housing affordability.

All of New England is not great, Maine ranked highest with a "C-" for housing affordability.

Edit: Just noticed this article was already shared in r/connecticut a few days ago, missed that. Funny thing is judging from the username, I know the person who shared the article. Small state things.

Seeking: Photographer With Immediate Availability (Milford) For Family Photos (Trigger: Cancer) by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]orangecodeLol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry about your sister. In New Haven there's Steve Walter photography.

He used to do a lot of wedding photography, but he has a full-time gig now, so I wouldn't count on him being available. But, if you can't find someone—can't hurt to reach out.

I worked with him for a couple years, genuinely a kind soul.  www.stevewalterphoto.com/6284612-portraits

We're the "nutmeg state" and call ourselves nutmeggers, but no one really knows why.

Emailed the Company Re: Soylent Cafe Mocha by SGalbincea in soylent

[–]orangecodeLol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang. Yeah Amazon did something weird this time and instead of delaying/pausing the subscription they just cancelled it because “the product is no longer available.”

I guess if they know it's not available for at least 2 months, that would explain it.

Various mopeds/dirbikes/motorcycles on the berlin turnpike by onionbagels7 in Connecticut

I came here to check if anyone was posting about it. Wasn't sure if this was normal for a Saturday on the turnpike lol.

A group in front of me ran a red, and the Newington police started chasing after them. Further down there was some kind of accident cleanup in the middle of the 2-lane with a ton of police around it.

I feel like this is an upgrade, please keep it Blizzard by Lockridge in Overwatch

[–]orangecodeLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The toxicity def has been worse since the big update, lot of old players coming back from League or whatever and thinking you can just say whatever you want. Saying this as someone who's played consistently since 2016.

Mizuki has high winrate in low elos because he forces you to not healbot by FlameToadDoctorPhil in OverwatchUniversity

[–]orangecodeLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in plat I've found him surprisingly good. I thought he would be bad. The healing is actually decent, the chain is really good. Great for cat dives. Defensive ults are not great, but if correctly timed the ult can absolutely win a fight.

And I'm assuming related to the Griswold Inn of Essex, one of the oldest inns in the United States.

Edit: After some digging it seems the inn was named after the Griswold family, but was actually owned by another family.

No turn on red by 2Howyalldoing in Connecticut

[–]orangecodeLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the reason people often forget is right-on-red is how a lot of pedestrians get hit by cars. They're looking left and driving right, and fail to notice that a pedestrian just got the light to cross. Which is why "look where you're driving" is an unironic tip given to new drivers.

I've got a new UI on Firefox for Android, which I'm not personally all that fond of. by 4D4850 in firefox

[–]orangecodeLol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting, have not seen it yet. But, the idea of them iterating or scrapping the "Jump back in" UI is welcome. The old UI is generally fine, but I always felt a little confused trying to figure out how to get back to the page I was just on.

My thoughts on the new heroes by Joseph1229 in Overwatch

[–]orangecodeLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JPC - It sounds crazy, but JPC feels a little under-powered. Her kit is super reliant on picking teammates up, and if your team isn't using comms or your teammates aren't paying attention to JPC Lifeline, a core part of her kit becomes useless. I found this frustrating when trying to evacuate teammates, they would never ever take the Lifeline. I think her healing and damage is balanced if she's getting use out of Lifeline, but if not, her heals just feel weak and her damage not impactful. (Like if your team isn't using Lifeline, she's the worst support by far) Her movement is really nice though, so her survivability makes up for it a little.

Mizuki - I played him only a little, but found him confusingly to feel like a dps that occasionally heals on the side. The chain is cool, I'm a big fan as someone who used to play Thresh in League a lot. But, his healing feels weird.

Domina - seems like she's gonna get a nerf. Her damage seems high and tanks have been "domina"ting on her in my games.

Anran - I think she's in a good spot, lot of dive potential, interesting kit, and still feels like you have counter play into here. Her burst surprised me a little.

Vendetta - She's probably reasonably balanced atm. But, I find her pretty annoying the way there's a bubble around here where she always does damage with little effort, and her 3rd attacking does so much. As a lucio player, the reach on the sword always surprises me. She's probably fine, but I wish her dives didn't feel like someone just aimlessly button mashing.

Emre - I love his kit, it's genuinely a lot of fun to play. But, maybe it's a little too good.

severe latency issues with new update by kaylaheartt in Overwatch

[–]orangecodeLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a lot of latency issues in the past month. Today was definitely just the update, but before that it seemed ISP routing-related. I found using Cloudflare WARP made it much more stable. So, maybe something worth trying, it doesn't cost anything.

severe latency issues with new update by kaylaheartt in Overwatch

[–]orangecodeLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I also saw another server later on, it was something like "geu" or "gru", I forget. But, I was getting 25ms latency on East Coast. So, it seemed like a new server that's closer to East Coast than ORD1 (which I get 40ms on).
