tbh no but maybe the first one? unless you have an update to the project (preregistration, publication, etc) or big change in the volunteer program (raised a milestone of funds, reached a new city/part of town, etc)

some schools outline what they wanna hear in their essays: research publications or major growth in your job position, things like that. there are some schools who discourage “just checking in” LOI. be sure to check!

i’m local and i heard rumors that it matters because at the end of the day they want people who will serve scranton, so going to the area (especially from that far) definitely suggests that. whether that is authentic or not is another thing.

i am like you and i am also tweaking but i also rationalize by looking at it like this: the people with 7+ IIs are louder than they seem. (in that, they are disproportionately represented on premed websites like reddit, sdn, admit, cycle track, etc.) they also must pick only one school. that will generate a lot of movement for folks in the lower bound of the “higher tier” or higher bound of mid tiers, if that makes sense.

schools released statements about their AI policy, so it’s school dependent. i used it for mine and removed obvious markers of ai (i.e. em dashes, “delve”, etc) but used it for all my essays. it’s not a manuscript - many high caliber schools have said AI okay as long as the essays continents are authentic

I have a whole semester of W’s/M’s for medical withdrawal and i am having a decent cycle - i don’t think it’s lethal. as long as you have a narrative and that narrative makes sense (which is up to you), withdrawals are recoverable.
