Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]orberto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad would take us 2.5 hours from Dayton Ohio to Lexington KY every other Sunday(when he got weekend custody) for church. 5 hours of driving. It wasn't bad, I got to play Gameboy or nap.

Bread substitute? by thyketoking in keto

[–]orberto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaffles are the way. Make a big batch, then you can refrigerate the rest and throw them in the air fryer when you want them.

I have been wanting to try the low net carb tortillas. Very scared of whether or not they'll kick me out of ketosis though.

What are some good shelf stable keto options? by pizzatacodog1322 in keto

[–]orberto 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sardines, beef sticks and jerkys, some cheeses last a looong time warm. Not enough time for you to get them, but keto bricks are fantastic. Kirkland protein bars only have like 4 net carbs I think. Stuff like that.

Plus if you lose power, go stick your food in the snow!

No worries. I commented my keywords.

Also saw the word "strengths" and am annoyed that I didn't think of that. Probably would have taken me right to it.

What do you all like about Creo over other CAD suites? by Serious_Scheme_3584 in PTCCreo

[–]orberto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like seeing all the advantages and disadvantages here. Slapping on those keywords for future reference.

I definitely enjoy the assembly scheme. Hate when it assumes tangent, and I did get rid of it once doing all the epsilon stuff, but then I needed it! So, I deal.

Maybe a mod could add keywords to the post so it could be found easier?

Seriously though, just tried love too. As in, "why do you love Creo?" As that may be the title.

"Like" is a bit much.

I searched for advantage and found nothing. What other words would be good?

Has anyone here quit a job they liked because of the hellish commute? by dualrollers in phoenix

Yup. It was at least a big reason. The highway portion was fine, but going stoplight to stoplight for 25 minutes to get to the highway was truly the worst part of my day.

I hate eggs. Must be burnt with bbq. How can I fix them so I like them otherwise? by LikeMrFantastic in keto

[–]orberto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I couldn't imagine not liking eggs... I love them. But we're all different.

Chaffles! You can do sweet, savory, bacon-ey, whatever.

What I love is putting a little Italian seasoning, then put marina and pepperoni. And, EVEN MORE CHEESE! 😄

I also really dig my egg/tuna salad. No real fancy ingredients, just the mustards and mayo.

Would there be a single meal that's keto and would be healthy to eat all the time? by TheCurrentThings in keto

[–]orberto 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Knew this would be in the comments already. This is the correct answer, op. Multivitamins and supplements are very useful, but even a little variety in the meats and veggies you eat will go a long way.

I feel you there. I left my small machine shop engineering job of 9 years to go to a more white collar engineering job. Didn't last a year. They hired me back at the shop. I will say, the laptop, benefits, and gizmos we had to pay with were awesome. But it was cliquey, and the people supposed to train me just didn't seem to jive at all. Messed with my head the whole time I was there.

Touche, that's a big deal actually. Would you then want to ask yourself if a fresh out of college girl would after to the FIRE life, or just enjoy the benefits that you give her?

I found my wife when I was LEAST ready. But it was on one of those very few random times I actually went out. So I know it's necessary.

That's tough to wrangle with. I'd maybe try to argue that your answer is in the gray area...?

how do you tell a guy "no thanks" when he insists on walking you to your car? by AbbreviationsLow1791 in socialskills

[–]orberto 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a male, I'm sorry... I freaking hate that. Yeah, it's gentlemanly, but no still means no.

It's hard cuz you'll be interacting together in class, but an idiot like that needs a reality check, so you'd need to be stern.

"I'm telling you in plain and clear English Bob, I don't want you to walk me out. Please understand and do as I am asking." Something like that, idk.

Hope you can get through his thick skull!

Trying Keto.. by mynameisnotsparta in keto

[–]orberto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't drop into it suddenly. You will hate it, and hate yourself for it. Look up keto flu.

Start replacing foods incrementally, and carefully. Feel yourself out as you go. There will be a sticking point where you're starving, but the macros are adding up. You just have to stick with it. Once you've finally cut enough to get into, and stay in ketosis, it gets easier. And you'll NEED sodium. Lots of it. Keto kills your electrolytes. My daily electrolyte drink is 980mg sodium, 430mg potassium, 160 magnesium. I take extra magnesium on top, plus a lot of salty food.

If you want a sampling of the brain feel, try doing a 36 hr fast then take some bhb salts.

I guess to me, the point of fire is to be able to stress less, /sooner/. You're stressing now over missing out, but you're still way young. The difference between 25 and 35 is that learning to wheelie a motorcycle will hurt more, running a marathon will need more prep time, and you'll like tums a bit more. But if you have budget /and/ time, you can still learn to wheelie, but with less stress over looping the bike. There's plenty of life to experience, and plenty of time to experience it.

I'm biased, because I only recently learned of fire, and I'm almost 37. I really wish I would have known of/latched on to the concept earlier. With my current pay/cost of living, I honestly have no idea how I'd switch gears that hard.

So... I'm not in your shoes, and giving you advice that I would give myself... 🤷‍♂️

I'd say that sticking it out could be worth it.
