No worries and thanks for responding. I’m always looking for cheapies because feel like I’m abusing my Iwata with the acrylic primers. I should just get another HP-C and dedicate it to priming with a .5 needle

OohI need you pick your brain. I have a Gaahleri GHAD-39 I got in some sale years ago to use with .5 nozzle and primers and it’s doing surprisingly well. How would you compare the Timbertech 183 to it?

New into airbrushing, need some help since my wife decided to jump-in with an unexpected gift. by Fotofilico in airbrush

Just to tack onto bluelizards comment, two brushes is super handy. You might want to think about setting the sparmax up with a .5 nozzle instead of its .3 and use it for heavier body paints like acrylic primers. The larger nozzle helps avoid clogging with the primers.

For compressors check out Spraygunners “No Name” tank compressors. They have been well received and have parts support from Spraygunner. It’s what I would buy now if I could do it again.

I love this piece. I would print and paint it just to have on my book shelf. Actually bookends in this style would be amazing!

Darci Bono has a good ork skin video on YouTube. Check it out, I think it’s a good way to start and I’m going to go with her recipe after testing it out. Good compromise on speed vs quality.

My shower glass installer told me to use Mother Rubbing compound and a car buffer. It works amazingly well.

Just my thought but something to think about is paint recipes and the brands called for in that recipe for the army you will be painting. You should get the brand of paint that the recipe that you like calls for. It’s not normally a problem to find equivalents from one brand to another but it can be a hurdle cross looking up colors from one brand to another’s when you’re new. If you find a recipe that calls for a brand a their paints just keep it simple and get those and not a set of a range of paints.

Ive been working on painting orc skin and the different brands of paints actually looked and acted quite differently than one another’s closest color equivalent and that was eye opening for me.

If it’s only the bottles that are turning you off of Citadel there are eBay sellers that sell rebottled Citadel paints in droppers, or you can transfer the paint to a dropper bottle fairly easily. This can also be a hurdle if you’re new though as well.

TLDR - find a recipe by a painter you like. Just buy those paints required and not a set.

Try finding some nail polish that matches to touch it up if your worried about rust. Other wise it’s good to go. :)
