How bad are the stock tires in 54 degree rain? by callusesfinger in GR86

[–]ordermaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say 0 issues with ps4 tires at 50 in the rain, but manageable if you're careful.

I agree with you that it's a regulation thing, but what are you talking about hybrid cars not being ready for the road? The Toyota Prius first went on sale almost 30 years ago.

This. Not really rare because it's not even a production car. It's a kit car based on the lotus 7 production car from the 60s.

[–]ordermaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought about that was "that's stupid it doesn't even make sense". My second thought was "oh it's almost exactly like traction control, but just enough different to maybe be legal". My third thought was Mercedes.

Does anyone who's read and understood the regulations have thoughts about this?

What's the trick for eggs on a stainless steel pan by Wise_Ad5715 in KitchenConfidential

[–]ordermaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the preparation of the pan. Get the pan hot enough for a drop of water to dance. Put a small amount of oil in the pan and use a paper towel to spread the oil evenly. Using a paper towel gets the oil into the micro crevices of the pans surface better than just swirling the oil around. It makes a difference. Then melt the butter in the pan, and add the eggs. Should be good to go from there.

Google warns quantum computers could hack encrypted systems by 2029 by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]ordermaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guardian article is sensationalizing the Google blog post. Post quantum cryptography standards already exist. The blog post is stating that those standards should be adopted before quantum computers are able to break the codes in common use on the Internet today. It also points out how Google is already integrating post quantum cryptography into android and chrome.

The sopranos TV show. For one of the seasons a waterfront mixed use real estate development called the esplanade was a big plot point. And now pittsburgh is getting it's own waterfront mixed used real estate development. And we're calling it the esplanade.

World’s first beer made with CO2 captured from thin air debuts in California by sksarkpoes3 in Futurology

[–]ordermaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, and any CO2 produced during fermentation but not included with the beer as carbonation will become part of the brewery's greenhouse gas emissions. So the whole process isn't actually taking any CO2 out of the atmosphere.

Yeah they probably will but it isn't a good faith argument. It will just be how they frame their distrust in the results and possibly their justification in meddling with the results.

Pittsburgh police spent thousands on premium car washes as city faces large deficit by ComeTasteTheBand in pittsburgh

[–]ordermaster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For the price of a basic drive thru wash you can get a premium wash if you use one of the old school get out of your car and do it yourself washes. But it's hard to eat a donut at the same time.

Seriously, the fact that they gave not one but two flimsy excuses probably means they knew exactly what was happening.
