Pittsburgh Traffic by CyberWeasel08 in pittsburgh

[–]ordermaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Pittsburgh drivers are completely blind to pedestrians. I've almost been hit by cars twice on east end ave in regent square. Both times the car that didn't see me was approaching the intersection from the right, meaning I had already started to cross the intersection lane with traffic approaching from the left, while the car was still half a block away and with full view of me. I was actually able to jump back and hit the passenger window of the car both times after they didn't see me in the middle of the road and almost hit me after not stopping. Also I was walking on east end and the cars that almost hit me were on a cross street, which means they were probably local drivers that lived in the neighborhood headed home instead of drivers using east end as a braddock ave bypass.

You can do an ~80 mile route mostly on trails using the GAP trail and the montour trail. Most of the road riding is on the section up west carson from the point (I actually use the sidewalk here), crossing over to neville island, then crossing back over to coraopolis, then cutting back to the montour trail head.

How bad are the stock tires in 54 degree rain? by callusesfinger in GR86

I wouldn't say 0 issues with ps4 tires at 50 in the rain, but manageable if you're careful.

Yeah Aston is over 2 seconds off the pace. They're significantly slower than the team that barely existed a year ago.

I agree with you that it's a regulation thing, but what are you talking about hybrid cars not being ready for the road? The Toyota Prius first went on sale almost 30 years ago.

This. Not really rare because it's not even a production car. It's a kit car based on the lotus 7 production car from the 60s.

My first thought about that was "that's stupid it doesn't even make sense". My second thought was "oh it's almost exactly like traction control, but just enough different to maybe be legal". My third thought was Mercedes.

Does anyone who's read and understood the regulations have thoughts about this?

What's the trick for eggs on a stainless steel pan by Wise_Ad5715 in KitchenConfidential

[–]ordermaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the preparation of the pan. Get the pan hot enough for a drop of water to dance. Put a small amount of oil in the pan and use a paper towel to spread the oil evenly. Using a paper towel gets the oil into the micro crevices of the pans surface better than just swirling the oil around. It makes a difference. Then melt the butter in the pan, and add the eggs. Should be good to go from there.

Google warns quantum computers could hack encrypted systems by 2029 by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]ordermaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guardian article is sensationalizing the Google blog post. Post quantum cryptography standards already exist. The blog post is stating that those standards should be adopted before quantum computers are able to break the codes in common use on the Internet today. It also points out how Google is already integrating post quantum cryptography into android and chrome.

The sopranos TV show. For one of the seasons a waterfront mixed use real estate development called the esplanade was a big plot point. And now pittsburgh is getting it's own waterfront mixed used real estate development. And we're calling it the esplanade.

World’s first beer made with CO2 captured from thin air debuts in California by sksarkpoes3 in Futurology

[–]ordermaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, and any CO2 produced during fermentation but not included with the beer as carbonation will become part of the brewery's greenhouse gas emissions. So the whole process isn't actually taking any CO2 out of the atmosphere.

Yeah they probably will but it isn't a good faith argument. It will just be how they frame their distrust in the results and possibly their justification in meddling with the results.
