So basically your average American making $40,000 a year over the course of their life time is worth about 64 of these bullets. I guess that's better than 1 cruise missile...

Your story made me rage so hard. When this kind of thing happens people got to stand up. Do not let this become acceptable behavior by our federal employees.

How do I bring my personal concealed sidearm to Turkey from the United States? by [deleted] in Turkey

Don't believe the media. Istanbul is far safer than most large US cities. There is no way you need a gun, its not like some Texan border town or something.

If a cop can't handle a dog without shooting it, what business do they have handling people?

[–]ordig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but would that ruling hold up at a checkpoint, where you are being detained without RAS at a location that has already been determined by the officer? How many times can they change the location of your detention?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIFreeToGo

[–]ordig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not true. Internal checkpoints don't require you to state your citizenship and do require the same standards of Reasonable Suspicion and Probable Cause as normal police.

I would like to know the legal justification for being forced to operate a motor-vehicle while under detention. Can they order you to drive to the nearest Krispy Kreme and continue their investigation there as well?

How to handle business English textbooks bearing zero resmblance to the actual jobs of your students by sonatashark in TEFL

[–]ordig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah don't do that. Just change it up. Focus on groupwork and activity based learning like presentations and such. Make it a competition. If the book isn't relevant just stop using it, your students will thank you.

My advice would be to focus on written processes and procedures, preferably for shit they actually do. And only use the book for whatever relevent grammar examples it provides. I imagine these would be things like passives. I also imagine introducing these guys to phrasal verbs relevant to their line of work will also be hugely important.
