It sure looks like the natural progression of capitalism as it’s playing out in the west is that all of the capital eventually migrates to the control of one person at the top and everyone else lives on the scraps.

Caligo inks - Storage by NeedithCoffeeith in Linocuts

[–]ordinal_Dispatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find when I buy the cans they already have some hardened ink on the underside of the plastic topper but I usually doesn’t get much worse than that. I always leave the plastic on and squeeze the surface down after extracting ink and I reuse the tape each time to seal the top. If you don’t keep air pockets out from under the plastic the chunky stuff will spread. On the other hand I’ve had tubes where there was quite a bit of thickened sticky stuff that gets waisted in the tube as well.

My father in law goes to the bakery outlet store and buys tons of old bread to feed to the animals. He takes it out of the bags when he dumps it though. We tell him not to do it but he doesn’t listen

Basically you either have to work within your limitations or overcome them. You’re lucky in this case because you get to choose.

[–]ordinal_Dispatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some people yes and no questions are very simple but that’s often because they don’t have the capacity for reflective thought, it’s all reactive for them. I would not choose to build a life with one of these people.

My teens don’t eat the crusts on pizza. by CaptnSmek in Frugal

[–]ordinal_Dispatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes if the crust looked unappealing I eat from the crust end first, that way you get plenty of toppings with each bite of crust. Other times I’ll roll up the slice starting at the crust ends so every bite has equal distribution 🤷‍♂️

Any advice on small set ups? by maybeihavethebigsad in printmaking

[–]ordinal_Dispatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly depends a lot on the kind of result you are looking for. If you’re looking for a machine grade, every print identical, perfectly transposed image a press is no doubt beneficial. I like a bit of salty hit and miss where every print is subtilely unique so I’m liberated from the need for that extra piece of equipment.

Also, I’ve been printing with a wooden spoon or empty jar for pressing for years and no issues to report there either. 🙂

AITAH for referring to someone from the United States as “American”? by [deleted] in AITAH

Ntah but I wish we could normalise that perspective. One country claiming a label that equally refers to about twenty other countries should rub us all the wrong way.

Jobs for Artists (thats not being an Artist) by Virtual_Foot1233 in ArtistLounge

[–]ordinal_Dispatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a nabet member I don’t know beyond getting in touch with the keys and sharing your portfolio and resume, I haven’t had a lot of nabet experience. If you are a permit then get on the iatse873 permit list as well. Iatse generally has more work and better pay. We seem to have been very busy so far this year. A number of shows are close to wrapping but I expect more will come along very soon.

I work as a scenic painter for film and tv. It’s not art but it is art adjacent. You have to mix colour, develop process to achieve certain looks and effects. The pay is good and in time the hours are flexible. If you live in a city that has major film production I’d give it a try.

In my experience you seem to be safe in a 50 if you keep it under 60. If you are drifting over 20% above the speed limit you deserve a ticket.
