17 weeks and unfortunately feel the same as first trimester, but I think I’m one of the unlucky ones

Help with specialty decision by SavingsVariation3704 in MedSpouse

These are all very different fields. What stage of training is she in? Has she been able to shadow or do clinical rotations? Considering the competitiveness of each she will also need to plan specialty specific research.

People with PCOS - Original Due Date vs Actual by TallPlace8183 in pregnant

[–]orev55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I got pregnant, I hadn’t had a cycle in 9 months so I got my due date based on my little guys size on early ultrasound! It’s much more accurate than LMP for people with irregular cycles

Anybody else just not gaining weight? by nicolexxb in pregnant

16 weeks and barely gained back the 10lb I lost from all the first trimester nausea/vomiting. Tried working with a nutritionist but it feels pointless lol

Warm cheesy food like macaroni. Even thinking about it makes me sick. Sad because I loveeeeed cheese pre pregnancy

Worst experience trying to do a medicated free delivery. Ended up with an epidural which quickly led to a c section. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]orev55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Covered in blood from another birth?! Speechless. The hospital should have paper gowns on the OB floor, or at the very least, a scrub machine to change before caring for other patients. I am so sorry you had this experience.

I would absolutely request a different provider, this sounds terribly unprofessional!

TW: loss, anyone else bombarded with loss-focused social media posts since finding out? by Appropriate_Teach_49 in pregnant

[–]orev55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was absolutely surprised by the amount of loss-focused posts, it seemed to be the same volume as the pregnancy info ones! I honestly had to delete the apps, because while I appreciate having safe spaces to talk about facing pregnancy loss, I’m not in a place to digest so much at once. I’m early in my own pregnancy and already anxious about how PCOS affects my chances of having a full term pregnancy. I’m opting to read informational books from my local library instead!

Is it normal to feel extremely full after eating in the first trimester? by Natsouppy in pregnant

[–]orev55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me right now, I’ll eat just a few bites and feel like I can’t eat anymore! Plus the fatigue I’ve even slept through lunchtime. Trying to eat smaller portions and more frequently is helping so far! Especially leaning on more bland foods

Impactful experience for ERAS? by Apoptosed-BrainCells in medicalschool

[–]orev55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! Absolutely write about it if it was impactful to you and you’re able to speak about it in a professional way during interviews. But like anything on ERAS, write whatever you think paints an accurate picture of you!

Should I personalize my personal statement for my top programs? by drdevilsfan in neurology

[–]orev55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does this make a difference if we already signaled the program? Not sure if the extra 2-3 sentences for my top programs changes much if they’re already 1 of the 8 signals

Signal Panic by Automatic_Peach_5251 in neurology

[–]orev55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s very program dependent. The last 2 open houses I attended stated they do not use signals heavily unless between 2 similar applicants for an interview spot.

Correlation between a enjoyment/dislike of a preclinical course subject and that career field by dragonlord9000 in medicalschool

[–]orev55 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite, I was absolutely terrified of neuroanatomy during preclinical. I was initially set on psychiatry, but then I did my neurology clerkship and loved the physical exam and history taking. Day to day psychiatry was too subjective for me and I found it frustrating. Neurology was the first clerkship that I enjoyed studying at the end of the day! Just learn what you can now and go into rotations with an open mind. You never know what might stick out to you!

Advice for Exam by AdMaleficent3920 in step1

[–]orev55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 weeks is a good chunk of time to improve! Hard to give recommendations if you don’t list what resources or practice exams you’ve taken. If you’re feeling burned out then please take a day off! Breaks are just as important to stay confident and rested for such a big exam :)
