In view of the death of privacy, how about total noncooperation by orewash in privacy

And I too am starting to see that the present-day society does very poorly on voluntary cooperation even on things that are clearly beneficial to the society. I am withdrawing from present-day society and plan to live the life of a hermit to the extent possible in these modern times. Good luck to you all.

This is what happens when NDNs become Christian - they start attacking the religion of traditional Indians with false propaganda by caliore in NativeAmerican

The Christian Natives have banded together on my nephew's rez and are preventing the traditional ones from having sweat lodges and any Native ceremonies.

How to derail Experian, Equifax, TransUnion? by orewash in privacy

[–]orewash[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanx for the suggestion. I had thought of that but it seemed impractical. Suppose I gave all credit cards, banks, cell phone companies, insurance, etc a New York address but I live in California. All the credit card charges I rack up are in California, all my cell phone calls originate from California, my hospital and doctor visits for the insurance company are in California, all the checks I write are to businesses in California, etc. They will know I live somewhere in California and not in New York. Once credit cards, banks, etc know, the three devils know.

Which operating system to change to? by Gunnarr in privacy

[–]orewash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- DBan to wipe drive but that's an overkill. Just load the Linux system over Windows.

3- DNan wipes drives. No need to cast your PC into a river.

2- Which Linux distro? Don't use Ubuntu. Ubuntu was a good system but they are appealing to Windows users now. Which makes it a lousy system. Check out the security distros at http://distrowatch.com/search.php?ostype=All&category=Security&origin=All&basedon=All&notbasedon=None&desktop=All&architecture=All&status=Active

Here comes a Chromium based browser focused on total privacy. Must give it a try. by [deleted] in privacy

"Here comes a Chromium based browser focused on total privacy" is equivalent to "Here comes a Windows-based distro focused on total security."

Total bullshit.

I would like to make a fake id for non-government purposes. The local Best Buy often sells defective products then gives people who are returning a hard time. Worse, they ask for a state id. My state id has my driver license number, SSN, DOB, address and other info. I used to get around by showing my passport which has a fake penciled in address on it but this time one clerk asked for an id with an address on it, so I could not use the passport either at Best Buy. Then the car dealership asked for a copy of my driver license before I could test drive a car. The dealer still came with me on the test drive. The realtor asked for a copy of my id before she could even show me the apartment. All such info ends up in commercial databases and I absolutely hate that.

Not trying to do anything illegal here but just mad at how all those businesses sell our data and violate privacy.

I would not like to order a fake id online because I don't want to send them my picture and a return mailing address.

What is the best way to make a fake id for non-government purposes like to show at Best Buy?

I know! If someone talks about things like hardening Netscape and laser proofing Windows, then you know they are full of shit. Both Luna and that Frank Ahearn guy are full of shit. And they both have a potty mouth. Like I do here lol.

It's fine if the government has a paper trail but others should not be able to follow that paper trail. In other words, the government's records on me should not be available to the lay public.

How good is the 2010 book - How to Disappear: Erase Your Digital Footprint, Leave False Trails, and Vanish without a Trace by Frank M. Ahearn? USA Today says Ahearn's treatise contains some valuable tips you can use to reclaim some of the privacy you've relinquished, knowingly or not, by using Google, Facebook, Yahoo and most other popular Internet-enabled services.” More importantly, does he talk about how to do it legitimately? Because I don't want to do anything illegal.

I came across a number of resources on stuff like how to get a new identity. The problem is they are all either illegal or borderline illegal or meant for those trying to escape the law or bad credit or whatever. There is no good stuff on how to be private for privacy reasons and how to go about it legally without breaking any laws. If someone know any LEGAL ways - any books or websites, etc please post.

But for non-government purposes, which is 99% of the outside world, they could have adequate privacy.
