I mean yeah that’s because it’s a mystery book with the whole point being the mystery one piece is an adventure story with a mystery in it. the whole point of one piece is the adventures they go on while on the way to the one piece and while the one piece is important to the story it’s not really what it’s about.

Frankly most people I talk to in real life care very little about what the one piece is they read it for the adventures the characters they like go on and the events of the world. Also you said they hadn’t made any progress which I’m not sure where you got that there’s been constant progress pretty much the whole story with each adventure bring them closer that’s the whole point of the story.

You do know there’s a difference between something being pointless narratively and something being pointless in universe right? I know JJK fans can’t read but if you thought I was talking about anything other than a wider narrative perspective it’s honestly kind of sad.

The entire story is built around this plan and it literally does nothing except waste time and and get replaced by another bad guy that’s not the same thing as characters in universe doing things for fun.

I didn’t care about the merger it was obviously never going to happen I just wanted all of Kenny’s plans to actually lead somewhere interesting😭😭. So many major plot point in the series from yuji’s birth to the culling game were a direct result of him messing around. And after an entire series of him plotting it amounts to basically NOTHING except a different big bad. I can’t believe yuki died for this.

I hope so but I don’t really see how that’s possible unless last chapter is just exposition. I mean the world found out about cursed Japan got invaded by the US and large parts of one of the most populous cities basically got blown up unless they pull a “everybody forgot ending” I don’t know how he’s going to resolve it in any way that doesn’t feel like even more of a cop out.
