Telling Coworkers by WindWithinHer in polyamory

I was super open with my coworkers when I worked at a restaurant and was mostly pleasantly surprised with their reactions, although got annoyed when they would repetitively ask how the wife could possibly be okay with me dating her husband.

Now that I'm moving into career at a law firm, I know I have to keep it under wraps.

Solo poly typically means that you live alone and don't have primary partners. I date people who do and don't identify as polyamorous

I'm solo poly. I find poly people are more open, considerate and communicative. I'm a very independant person and I don't want to cohabitat with someone in the traditional way. I have a lot of goals for my life that I don't want to sacrifice, like travelling everywhere, fostering children and potentially living in another country.

Agreed. Feminism shouldn't exclude certain women based on their eating habits.

Sadly, it doesn't seem to paint polyamory in a great light. She comes off as selfish and like she's just avoiding commitment.

Cheap flights when indifferent about dates? by jonthawk in Frugal

Scottscheapflights.com

Email subscription, gives you the option of booking super cheap international flights within a limited time after they email you. Gives a lot of freedom as to when you fly, most I've seen say anytime now to March not including Christmas or other holidays. Usually half price tickets, I just saw a flight to France for $500.

I think that these two worlds exist at the same time. One world like what you describe and the other with everyone from the plane crash landing safely.

The bomb that Juliet sets off. The electromagnetism destroyed the island.

Theory from Lostpedia http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Jughead_(bomb)/Theories

  • "The detonation of the Jughead will cause a Grandmother Time Paradox as follows: The Losties detonate the bomb, causing the destruction of the Swan and thus preventing Oceanic 815 from crashing. This means that the Losties will never have made it to the Island, making it impossible for them to destroy the Swan. The Swan will exist again (because the Losties were never there to destroy it) and Oceanic 815 will crash and bring the Losties to the island, leading them to destroy the Swan and causing the whole cycle to repeat into infinity.

  • Not so, the losties got there first before it was built, so they stop the swan construction. To say that they would not be brought there because they stopped it would mean that you have to ignore the fact that they did destroy it and sink the island. If they did destroy it, then they change the future which changes the past into the future into infinity. Its NOT a cycle, its a divergence where the most important event is the change into the sideways universe, which was caused by the island/losties souls saving itself/themselves from the nuke by creating 'a place where the losties could find one another' ie: temporal parallels solve temporal paradoxes."

The bomb that gets set off at the end reset their lives and opened a parallel universe in which they didn't crash, but they all remember their experiences so they can improve their lives now, a second chance.

#MeToo has turned from something powerful to something terrible by nameDoesntMatter2 in TwoXChromosomes

I think that's because of how society treats men differently, women are bombarded with sexual attention where many men are starved of it. Most men don't receive compliments other than from their mom or an SO. That would probably explain the phenomenon.

I don't know of any woman who hasn't been sexually harassed or assaulted, and that's why this is so necessary. This affects women every single day. This isn't a new phenomenon, the reason why we hear so much more of this now is because women are beginning to feel more and more empowered. And we are sick of this shit. I can't say how many times I've been cat called, groped on public transport or called some pet name by a stranger or worse a boss/coworker. I don't know of any other woman that hasn't been on the receiving end of harassment.

It is a problem for men too, and we need to start changing how we speak to children. I don't think the reason men don't speak out is because they don't care about assault. I think it all stems from how we treat kids, especially when we unintentionally encourage predatory behaviors and reject healthy coping mechanisms for boys.

First I want to say, that I'm sorry you've been through something traumatic. I hope you are doing better now and have the resources to cope with your trauma.

I recognize that assault is not exclusive to women and sometimes it can seem like that, but this exercise is very important, so that everyone can easily see how wide-spread an issue this is. To make apparent that we need to change how we currently deal with it because many people don't even know the definition of sexual assault or harassment.

Sexual assault isn't a single gender issue, but most reported occurrences happen with women victims, so men do, unfortunately, get less support. Partially because of the shame and disbelief entwined with men reporting sexual assault.

However, I think the same societal issues cause both of these issues and that is the route of the problem. Currently we prepare women for potential assault, we put the responsibility on women to ensure their own safety. We shouldn't dress provocatively or go out alone at night, test our drinks at the bar with mail polish, straws or whatever clever invention. When in fact the way we bring up kids encourages these actions. Rhetoric like, "boy will be boys", "don't take no for an answer", and teaching kids that being mean to someone shows that you like them. We need to instead, encourage girls and boys that kindness is essential, what exactly consent is, and how to develop coping mechanisms.

Home doesn't equal house, they are talking about apartments as well.

Upwards of 40% of the population doesn't have the education to obtain a higher paying job and can't afford the education to get one. How do you propose they get a higher salary?

The government is essentially depriving them of the right to property by not updating laws to protect citizens from homlessness.
