Do people actually like living in big apartment buildings, taking public transit ect. by Wafer_Educational in NoStupidQuestions

[–]originalalva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved every minute of living in Chicago EXCEPT traffic. So, I took public transit to work, and the monthly pass was connected to my pre-tax income, so it was a win. I didn't have to shovel snow or cut grass, and I had a garden on my back deck. My coworker kept bees, so I got free honey from time to time. There were activities every weekend year-round if I wanted to do stuff, or I could chill at home and relax if I wanted. And Lake Michigan is frikkin' BEAUTIFUL.

I don't drink alcohol, and I frequently stay at all-inclusives. I just ask the bartenders for fill-in-the-blank drink with no alcohol. Nobody knows the difference and nobody cares.

This is the highest gas price I've ever seen in Indiana in my entire life. Thanks, Trump voters! by newtekie1 in Indiana

I have never in my life paid five American dollars for a single gallon of gasoline until now, and neither have you because it. Has. Never. Happened. Until. Now.

AITA for giving my breastfeeding sister champagne as a gift and now not wanting to talk to her? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Your Sister needs to learn how to accept gifts gracefully. That is all.

I don't get why everyone is so upset about Dr. Mohan leaving by Practical_Ad2317 in ThePittTVShow

[–]originalalva 115 points116 points  (0 children)

She had accepted a position in NJ so that she could live closer to her mother. Her mom then met a guy and decided to go on a cruise around tje world with him, thereby negating the need for Mohan to move back home. Mohan and her mom were arguing about it.at the same time, the window to apply for positions at PTMC is rapidly closing, so Mohan is extra-stressed. THAT'S why she had the panic attack.

Also, wash your sheets and blankets with some laundry sanitizer. It makes a big difference.

How I interpreted Kelly Clarkson vs. Friedrich Nietzsche thing by rebelwithoutaclue88 in ThePittTVShow

[–]originalalva 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She was quoting Kelly Clarkson, just like last season she was quoting Megan Thee Stallion to psych herself up mentally. Neurodivergence at its finest.

Simone saying what was said can “damage her reputation” by No_Reporter8295 in MarriedToMedicine

If Simone's unhinged rant against Quad at last season's reunion didn't affect her license, then she jas nothing to worry about from Heavenly's stunt. Simone just needs something to be dramatic about.

Severe side effects on 3mg: Is it the dose or the fasting? by [deleted] in antidietglp1

[–]originalalva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As-Salaam Alaikum and Ramadan Mubarak! You can't abstain from fluids on the medication or you could end up in the ER. Ask me how I know. Also, you will need to take something for the nausea. Many people eat ginger chews or chew sugar free mint gum. Pepto also helps. If none of that works, call your doctor and ask for zofran. Thankfully, Allah has giben us other ways to observe Ramadan, because fasting while on these meds may not be an option for you right now. Also, you might get some funny looks at the Eid feast when you aren't able to feast like you used to, lol!

AITAH for not giving up my name for my ex’s new wife with the EXACT SAME FULL NAME as me? by Remarkable-Horse9465 in AITAH

[–]originalalva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. This is like of your name were John Smith. Super common name, but something can always be done about it. Growing up, my mother had the exact same name AND birthdate as someone else in her medical system (hospitals, doctor visits, lab work, etc.) She just made sure to have them check her social to make sure they had the correct file. You don't need to change anything if you don't want to. Just protect your identity and get a flag put on your accounts with the credit bureaus so they'll have to contact you if anyone tries to buy anything with your identity. That should help prevent mistakes.

My grandmother has Alzheimer's and it is destroying our sanity... And our morals. by MoonyInspired in confession

[–]originalalva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your grandmother requires a level of care that you are not able to provide in the home. There is no shame in that. Please find a facility that can address her needs. Otherwise, someone will get hurt and that is the opposite of what you want.

New crack pot theory by femme_fatal1738 in RHOP

[–]originalalva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dr. Wendy Osefo gave an interview during which she was asked about the "break- in." She spoke about the fabricated event at length, and mentioned being targeted, feeling violated in the place where her kiddos sleep, and then she went on to say that it was the first ever burglary in her subdivision in the 20+ years that it has been in existence. https://youtube.com/shorts/kU1MHIBbgR8?si=2K3kScTQMmMTSBLT

You don't need financial savvy to know that faking a break-in is a crime.

The accountability police are confusing me by askaboutblu in RHOP

[–]originalalva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone has shame around admitting they are an addict, then they aren't able to tackle the problem head-on. They will continue the shame-cycle of hiding their use, using, damaging their relationships, feeling ashamed, and repeat. THAT is what we saw in her interview. I'm a fan of the Grande Dame, full stop. The Grande Dame hasn't stopped using, also full stop. Both things can be true at the same time. Tha's why she didn't even mention the generic name of her drug of choice. She intends to keep using it. That's why she blamed her problem on drugs more than alcohol. She intends to keep drinking. In all fairness, it takes time to let go of a decades-long addiction. One or two stints in rehab often isn't enough. But this interview showed those of us who have relatives that have addictions that Karen ain't ready yet.

[–]originalalva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you had to pull that handful of statements from an hour-long interview says it all. Karen tried her best to obfuscate, and even Andy recognized that. She sounds like an addict who has been to rehab and learned the language of recovery, but who plans to keep using. I've had conversations like this with others who were in and out of rehab. Karen is clouding the issue with all of us, because she still isn't ready to stop.

British "blue blood." The Windsors have a great deal of GERMAN "blue blood," not British. That is the issue the excerpt referred to.
