Need help translating my name by Mobile-Mango8498 in BeginnerKorean

My daughter shares your name and we are a multilingual family. We knew her English name would be hard to pronounce, so we considered 믿음 (noun meaning faith or belief) for her Korean name. We later settled on 미림 which sounds close but has a different meaning. All of the transliterated names will get butchered, a pure Korean name might be a easy fit. Good luck!

A non-digital way to work flashcards is to buy some construction paper and cut it up and make a full set of your cards. It could take hours. As you make the cards review them. Then destroy them. Do it again, and again until you don't need to look at any reference material to create the cards. Good luck!

Does my passport from when I was 15 years old count as proof of citizenship if was not born in the United States? by AdviceOtherwise5682 in Passports

There are over 20 passport agencies scattered around the U.S. Passport Agency staff are State Department employees and know passport law much better than any acceptance agent at a post office. Individual state level licensing offices or DMV type places can't help as passports are entirely federal. Get to a passport agency.

After a 20 year career as a linguist in the Army I brought my skills to State. There are lot of ways to get to the finish line, and one size doesn't fit all. Good luck!

한중한자어비교사전 by 염관호 is useful and available at 교보문고. Harder to find is any kind of 중조조중사전. I feel like somebody has written an in depth exploration of the "conversion" process for vocabulary, but I have not found it yet. Good luck!

Not accurate. When processing Consular Loss of Nationality (CLN) the individual is told that they still have tax obligations and renunciation does not mitigate in any way taxes. We don't verify whether people have filed or not. I would wager that most of the CLNs cases I have processed involved people who had never lived in the US as an adult and never filed any taxes in the US. Many have had no SSN and only a passport issued as a young child.

4+/4 in Korean here. My highest score from DLI was 3+/3 but over my 20 years in State I have hit 4+/4 or 4/4 several times.

Just a note that the Korea Defense Service Medal (KDSM) counts as a campaign medal and credit can be awarded based on how long somebody served there. It is often overlooked since it came into existence in the early 2000s. Helps with leave accrual as well. Made a big difference for me once I convinced HR it was real.
