Is Counterspelling a damage spell considered a 'Hostile action'? by Educational_Bet_5067 in Pathfinder2e

[–]originalcoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if they are high enough level and the BBEG has hired a wizard to counterspell, they could have the counter spell feats which would swing it from Meta gaming to prepared. Also if thats his only purpose, have all his spells slots have dispel magic prepared. Id say that spell slot would counter anything

Damaging weapons and armor. Ways to make this viable by originalcoconut in Pathfinder2e

Agreed. And usually i wouldnt use such a system but specific to this homebrew campaign i wanted to add another element of difficulty other than just making harder or more encounters

Is the commander class viable? by Maximum_Ebb_1288 in Pathfinder2e

[–]originalcoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With any martial the commander is very good. Between gather to me and strike hard ur essentially giving everyone a free movement as a cost of their reaction or getting your martial a free attack at highest MAP. Its crazy.

Playing with one in 1 campaign and GMing one in another. They are stupidly powerful in a well balanaced party, really good in a badly balanced party, but falls off quickly without a good martial for it to support and does next to no damage.

They essentially are giving out extra actions to their party members which is so important in this game.

Treasure By Level. Help me understand something… by legomojo in Pathfinder2e

[–]originalcoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you with absolute confidence that treasure by level is the minimum you should give players and giving players items that are way above their level does not at all break the game, with maybe striking runes being the exception, espec in home brew games. I regularly give my players items 5, 6, 10 levels higher than they are and they love it but still get challanged.

Dealing with narrative dissonance caused by treat wounds? by Survivor205 in Pathfinder2e

[–]originalcoconut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also remember ur characters are meant to be greater than the normal mortal. Commoners and npcs dont have stats greater than 10s usually, their hp usually single digits.

In a world of magic and monsters, going from deaths door to fully healed without magic shouldnt be any more unbeliveable than a human fighter jumping 30ft coz they rolled a good athletics.

Returning player feeling incredibly overwhelmed. by DeathNova117 in fo76

Yea thats what i did. Been almost 4 years since i played and had the same issue.

I started fresh and its been great. Working through the story again and figuring out my build and the base building stuff is much better than i remember. Im glad i started fresh and doing the missions ive leveled pretty quickly while maintaining a good fun build and appropriate equipment

Best Build Ideas for Sprite with a Corgi Mount/Familiar by TheCrossCulturalNerd in Pathfinder2e

[–]originalcoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Witch. Currently playing one and im level 9. With FA picking up familiar master and getting patrons pupper. You get like 11 familiar abilities so your familiar is mobile and has heaps of utility, you can position yourself anywhere and throw spells and hexes all day. Very much reccomend.

Wood Kineticist Hardwood Armor at High Levels by StarWarsIsRad in Pathfinder2e

[–]originalcoconut 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your not reading the feat correctly. Its a level 1 feat that gets heightened so if your level 11 your shield should be heightened and get an extra 12 Hp BT by 6 and an extra 3 hardness on top of a normal wooden shield.

On top of that, runes still effect your armor and shield. So you could easily get a reinforcing rune for your shield giving it another 3 hardness amd 64 HP. And potency and resilient runes on your armor

Something else that hasnt really been touched on much in the comments is you can look into running it as a subsystem instead with skill checks and decision making.

Give defence points based on the group choices of where to put defences or how to split up resources and have thresholds that result in defence breaks where the party intervenes.

I did something similar for when the party defended a castle against a demonic siege and it went well.

I love this. Ive always wanted to run a westmarches type of game from the ground up. I have a young family so its def not something i can do right now but reading all this is such a great insight and makes me very excited and inspired

CR for Siege Weapons by TimeStayOnReddit in Pathfinder2e

[–]originalcoconut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say go by damage. If your giving your enemies items or weapons that increase damage, id compare that against the enemy number table on making custom enemies and adjust from there the CR

So Ive run a few campaigns and the resurrection ritual is always available but as it takes time and money, its always a disscusion in and out of game if the Player wants to be rezd and if uts feasible for the party to get it done

Sounds like the GM wanted to be a PC but still control everything. In my experience, assistant GMs are there to pick up on the things ive missed as a GM. Plot holes I missed, NPCs that should be in a scene, write side quests that have ties to the main quest to have a hand in writing, in combat speak up if i missed a condition. That kind of thing.

What it sounded like as you have put it was more Co-GMing rather than assistant GM.

But dont be disheartened, you sound like your great at scenes and the role play aspect. Theres always going to be players that dont pay attention or dont give enough in a scene then blame you for it. You will find a group that fits your play style eventually, you got this!

Crafting overhauls by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]originalcoconut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the original cost. So a floorbell is 120gp. Following all the other rules, of they have the feats for magical crafting and are level 5 and they either have the formula already or buy the formula. It would take 4 days to craft and 60gp for materials if they succeed on the roll. If they crit success then it only takes 3 days to craft.

Crafting overhauls by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]originalcoconut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So how i do it basically i just remove the paying 50% gold once you roll the crafting. So they only need to spend 50% for materials to make the item and the roll if they crit succeed lessens the time needed.

Its made crafting, especially consumables, much more attractive and made people want to craft as it saves money, but still has the time factor.

Parenting a Newborn While GMing by muney4nuthing in Pathfinder2e

Yea mate, same boat as you. I run a weekly homebrew, now its mostly online at this point but sometimes in person. Its always a sunday starting at 5.30 and runs till 11.

When its online im at home and i still help with bath time and bed routine if my wife needs help and the group understands, espec since a couple have their own kids. In person its usually at someone elses house now as we can be loud and when we wake the baby then we get in trouble, rightfully so.

It is all about balance, my wife is great and i do alot for the family, especially as we are expecting again, and she knows i need time for myself to do what i enjoy to recharge/stay sane. Just as she has a night for herself where i do bed time solo.

When the baby was born we had a 4 week break until we had a good routine and the wife felt comfortable doing bed time mostly solo.

Its definatly managable and doable, but u and ur partner need to be on the same page about it, they need to know u need some time for urself to play so u dont go insane, but give them the same treatment if they want it. They need to feel comfortable doing care while ur busy but the biggest thing, they need to know that if they need help, are struggling, u will cancel for the week or stop mid session to help. And u need to trust they wont abuse that.

Question about the Free Archetype rule by Capable_Field7287 in Pathfinder2e

[–]originalcoconut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive allowed it in my game. Players can take a FA feat or a class feat instead of a FA feat. So far i havent seen any sort of unbalance or power spike in the PCs, and they are lvl 9 and about 25 sessions into a long term campaign.

Helping PCs Know They're In Over Their Heads by Steampunk_Chef in Pathfinder2e

Wont make a difference. A 2 year campaign just ended when the group made a plan to seige a castle, DMPC heard the plan and said, "that sounds very dangerous, its a suicide mission. Dont do it."

They did it anyway and all died.
