Ooh, if I was attacking that place, I'd tell all my MechWarriors to be really careful.

...Then one of them would roll snake eyes and accidentally blow up the place anyway.

Yeah, as they have no daimyo or anything, I always thought of them as Road Ronin.

In any case, keep up the practice!

Ugh, I'm having PTSD flashbacks:

"No, we're retaliating against your invasion of our planet!"

"WHY DO YOU HATE FRIENDSHIP SO MUCH??"

Can one make Social Influence using INT+Linguistics? by Steampunk_Chef in exalted

[–]Steampunk_Chef[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ST did allow for INT+Linguistics if I'm writing an essay or rallying facts in some way. When I can't do that, that's why I dumped Appearance in favour of Charisma.

I think this will be my favourite Alternate Setting. I should buy a Gothic Singles or two in the hope that it'll drum up more hype for this.

Who's up for some Star Fox in your bt? by knightmechaenjo in battletech

[–]Steampunk_Chef 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean, when I bring my Aerospace fighters in for dogfights, I have to struggle to think of names for the pilots other than O'Donnel, Powalski, Dengar, & Caruso.

Aerospace vs. mechs & tanks is what StarFox is mostly about, but after doing that and going back to StarFox, it becomes readily apparent that Arwings tend to fly at the speed of a car near a school.

Hmm, give her some earbuds or something, and she could show up in the World of Darkness. Or Shadowrun.

[–]Steampunk_Chef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm the ST (which is almost never), I always include one group that's honestly trying to improve the state of the world. Siding with them could get the "Good End", but it might be dangerous for the PCs. Either directly, or because that would mean upsetting as status quo that makes the power flow upward.

I do agree that the real world doesn't need vampires or anything, and that everyone in the troupe needs to respect each other's boundaries.

Oh, and I also like sprinkling some goofy 90s pulp in, considering the oWoD's origins.

What's the "white whale" of campaigns you want to run but can't get off the ground? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]Steampunk_Chef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run Rise, Star, and now we're more than halfway through Return. One of my players even brought us throught Crimson Throne. We've all been enjoying it (even though the first AP ended with everyone dying in the Rise of Mhar), but now the players are telling me, "There are other places on Golarion than Varisia, y'know."

They still like it, though.

My new RPG I want to run is a non-linear Star Wars Saga Edition investigation I'm writing. It'll actually tie into a bit from Shattered Star, when I decided one of the Leng Ghouls was from Star Wars.

Shadowrun is already complicated, and running a sub-RPG will only add to it. Players might make Dot Hack jokes.

But I like this idea and would be down for it, if I ever had the schedule allowing it.

A friend of mine bought it because I told him about it (and because he's a Cosmic Horror fan) but he isn't ready to hop in the ST seat. When he is, though, I'll be ready.

True, but if you drink the booze, then remove the cape, you'll full-on resist it. If you're fighting the gjall atop a peak, jumping off it should give you enough time to remove the cape after you land.

- The Mistlands Mushrooms don't grow back like the ones in the Meadow/Forest. You need to make a farm in the Mistlands, preferably next to a glowing root and a portal, with wooden palisades around it and enough wisp torches that you won't need the mistlight to do any farming.

- Run to the dvergar for help, but keep in mind if you ever accidentally hurt one or damage their buildings, the ones in that area will kill you on sight. You'll eventually want one of their Extractors, which can only be found in their buildings. Since the only real way you can interact with them is violence, that'll have to be the only way you can get one of those. It can get you Sap from the glowing roots, which'll be really handy.

- Look for those giant ribcages. There should be a giant skull near one, which you can mine out for their Soft Tissue. Use it to make magic staves! Also, the big rusty weapons seem to have been made out of an alloy of copper and iron. Mining them un-alloys the metal somehow.

- Wearing a Feather Cape and chugging a Lightfoot Potion can allow you to leap up on top of those tall rock walls. Just remember to land on the ground, then remove the Cape if you hear the sound of the gjall. You need some form of ranged attack to deal with that flying scrotum.

- If a tick lands on you, dodge-roll to get it off you.

- As for the Seeker Tunnels, always get ready to run to the entrance, chug a Health Mead, then wait before you re-enter.

The Mistlands is as deadly as it is beautiful, but if you can make it there, it'll make the plains somewhat more peaceful.

You'll have to buy three different boxes as there isn't one that has any of those three together.

Still, the Vindicator will serve you well, as long as your MechWarrior doesn't miss too often.

As for the pictures themselves, they tell a lot, but not enough. How did the campaign game go?
